It's Official M7 has shafted us

Yenyewe this dude is a real a/hole, why on earth would he lead Kenya along all knowing that he’d go with Tanzania? When did it dawn upon him that Kenya is insecure? I will not be surprised if they manage to rope in RSS into the project taking its close proximity to Ug. I read malice and envy from Ug that Kenya also struck oil and are now making it less lucrative for us to extract it.
How can we be sure that he will not change his mind about the SGR once we do our bit to Malaba and opt to do a SGR to tanga?
We should realize that EAC for Kenya is dead or has no real benefits for Kenya, The neighbours (Ug & Tz) seem to harbour ill agenda for Kenya. We should concentrate our resources on projects that are primarily for Kenya. reevaluate the value and scale of projects such as LAPSSET so that we do not get into unnecessary debt.

Anyway I am still seething from the contempt dished to us as country and if I were UK I would keep this card close to my heart and dish it back at the most opportune moment.

#FerkM7 and all his cattle are now fair game!

I miss Moi

kenya shouldnt be worried the tz pipeline will be more expensive compared to kenya juu it will either go through the forest (serengeti) or around it while kenyas route is clear and direct.
all kenya needs to do is build a refinery in turkana and convince south sudan to refine their crude there ama transist their crude through kenya.
from their we will be selling oil to tz and even ug

agreed i think m7 is just playing us to a poing u.k is forced to intervene and offer him a veery good deal.
**u.k = uhuru kenyatta

I have never understood why we need to export crude oil, clearly we don’t have enough! so why not refine from source for local consumption? we can sell the surplus to the neighbors

South Sudan’s oil was mortgaged to China and Malaysia when the country got broke as a result of the war. So mambo ya refinery in Turkana haiwezi.

what if we refine kenyas crude for local consumption

please enlighten us, we might get to understand the mess that is Nigerian crude

On this one, let’s be pragmatic and try to see things from the point of view of M7’s Uganda. For how long would Uganda be able to cope with an interference in the free flow of trade as a result of a disruption in oil flow? Remember the uprooting of the railway line? The interference in smooth flow of traffic on the Northern corridor brought about by organized and roudy mobs?
I believe M7 is more concerned with certainty now and in future. The problem is not even with the other sections. And the Billion shillings question: is the SGR at risk of suffering the fate that befell its counterpart during the PEV period? And if you were M7, would you join or look for an alternative that is more certain and secure?

Our oil consumption as a country is so low to warrant building a refinery just to serve the local market.

This is the thing. The rich(ruling class) want the money so that they can use it the way they want. I mean whats wrong with me making 100 billion and buying 10 million worth of fuel in my life? Siunajua kama kawaida. Distribution oil to citizens is fair and can hardly be skewed and they dont want that. For example, nigeria’s oil has been sold to western oil companies backed by US government for a long time by leaders who want to be supported to stay in power. Like our own government is making us heavily indebted to china and others just to stay afloat, like moi went about signing every agreement out there including Icc to stay in power and be supported.

Besides, although self preservation should be at play, it is unwisely selfish of us to expect every bit of development infrastructure to be done in Kenya only. Tanzania, also, needs to develop. So does Rwanda, Burundi, Uganda, Congo and South Sudan. We need markets for the other goods we produce. If our neighbors were all middle income countries, like us, I believe the dynamics of day to day economics would be different from what we have today! East Africa needs to develop uniformly for a more conducive business environment!

BABA ameconvert m7

What were variables. Am sure, they is much that we aren’t being told.

Making a pipeline is expensive. What this means is Kenya will incur extra cost because it will be making the pipeline for its own use only. Kenya has also lost revenue it could have earned from Uganda.

It’s clear from the map, that Tanga is the expensive route, but then, UG must have informed .ke of their decision, and given them reasons for their change of mind (any insider in the house).
Anyways, that spilt milk now, they are a million and one opportunities to be exploited
