Israelites widely sacrificed humans as offerings to their gods!

Habari ndio hio!

And, yes!, it is gods, not just “God”!

Abraham, the most giant of all the patriarchs, was about to slaughter his own and only son, Isaac, as a burnt offering in compliance to instructions ordered of him by one of the many gods. Were it not for an alleged stray ram that got in the way and inadvertently altered the course of the narrative, Isaac could have been murdered that day.

Jonah was sacrificed in the high seas as a sacrifice to God? to calm the tempest.

John the baptist was beheaded for what?

And Jesus Christ, the son of God?

You are very I’ll Informed

its written in bible they sometimes worshiped Canaanite gods like baal (the same god that the Carthaginians worshiped), these gods normally required the sacrifice of children. jesus christ is not the son of yahweh - that is a pagan concept

Oh here we go again

I mentioned that on the thread about the purpose of children

We don’t care

AT ALL!

The whole theme of the bible is Yahweh one of the Middle Eastern gods decides to create his own people who worship him only. He targets Abraham, a gentleman from Haram, a place where people worshipped multiple gods and had idols curved to be their gods (recall Rachel, Abraham’s granddaughter in law who his her dad’s idols). It was common for some gods to “ask” for human sacrifice either slaves or one’s child. Yahweh knows this is the ultimate faith in action and so he challenges Abraham to sacrifice his only son. It not being a strange request from a god (this and not necessarily his strong faith) Abraham agrees. So when Yahweh gives his “chosen tribe” his laws, the first law is automatically one of fidelity to him because he knew of the existence of other gods. Well, may the best god win
