Our ED, Njeri was called on Sunday night a Human Rights Defender Marion regarding a femicide case, the call was to be present with the family during the postmortem which was to done in KNH the next morning.
Cynthia was almost 21years. She had gotten a job as a househelp with a family in Embakasi. The other house help was leaving but first she was to help Cynthia to understand the ongoing chores she should be doing. She had only stayed with that family for six days.
Cynthia complained that the man of the house was interested in her but she wasn’t interested in returning his affections and was worried it would jeopardize her work. 13th May was the last day that she was seen hanging clothes at her employers flat. On 1st of June, Cynthia was found dumped in Lungalunga naked, she had strangulation marks and alongside a broken spine. She had also been gang raped.
Well wishers rushed her to hospital, where she was referred to KNH, where it was also indicated she had been poisoned as well. She managed to get someone to call her sister, who she allegedly gave a bedside confession that her misfortunes had been caused by her employers husband alongside his friends who had abducted her and inflicted mortal harm on her.
Cynthia Nanjala passed away on 03rd June. Her postmortem was postponed to today.
Cynthia is yet another of unresolved femicide cases that are so rampant in this our country. Yet another name in a long list. Our hearts are broken yet again.
