Is Ruto Sidelining Gachagua, Favoring Mudavadi?

Political analysts on Sunday, May 7, differed on whether President William Ruto was favoring Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi while sidelining Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua.

Experts’ comments came at a time when Mudavadi led the Kenyan delegation at the 11th high-level summit of the regional oversight mechanism of the peace, security, and cooperation framework for heads of state and governments in Bujumbura, Burundi.

Some experts observed that Mudavadi was just exercising a delegated role and there was no politics in the matter.

Political analyst Herman Manyora maintained that the president was not favoring Mudavadi in any way by asking him to attend an event.

“Those saying that the President is preparing Mudavadi to take over from him are maybe out to make the people of Western Kenya happy, but the truth is, Mudavadi has to fight for himself if he wants to win the presidency,” Manyora explained.

On the other hand, political analyst Martin Andati agreed with Manyora, arguing that the president has no duty of preparing anyone to succeed him.

“Mudavadi should strengthen his ANC party and come up with vibrant mechanisms of convincing Kenyans to elect him after Ruto’s presidency,” Andati stated.

Political analyst Jane Thuo held a different opinion, maintaining that Ruto was priming Mudavadi to succeed him when he leaves office.

Thuo explained that Mudavadi is well placed to win the presidency with the help of Ruto.

“Mudavadi has the capability of leading this country, now that he is not controversial, and the fact that he was a Minister during the Moi regime and deputy prime minister during the Kibaki presidency,” Thuo narrated.

According to Thuo, President William Ruto will most likely sideline his deputy Rigathi Gachagua and support Mudavadi’s bid for the presidency.

Ruto abroad
President William Ruto left the country on Friday, May 5, to join other world leaders in attending the coronation of King Charles III in the United Kingdom on Saturday, May 6.

On Sunday, May 7, the president was expected to visit the Netherlands for a series of bilateral meetings.

“Kenya treasures the cordial relations it enjoys with the United Kingdom. We believe it is through the broadening and strengthening of our relations with the international community that we can accelerate the transformation of our country,” the president stated while in the UK.

With Ruto being away for official duty in the UK, Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua was expected to perform government duties as specified in the constitution.

President Ruto chose Mudavadi to represent him at the peace summit in DRC because he is the third highest-ranking executive officer in the country. Sending Gachagua would have created a leadership vacuum.

Mudavadi on peace summit
Mudavadi stated that the objective of the summit was centered on evaluating the security situation in the Eastern Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), the Republic of Sudan, and the Region at large in order to enable member states deliberate on the way forward.

Mudavadi confirmed that Kenya under the leadership of President William Ruto was firmly and fully supportive of the initiative being undertaken by the regional member states in ensuring no lives are lost, neither is property destroyed with the aim of bringing normalcy to the affected countries in the region, the Democratic Republic of Congo and Sudan being the most recently affected countries.

“It is disheartening that despite the progress made in the region, several challenges persist or have intensified, notably, the current deteriorating security situation in Eastern DRC, particularly in Ituri and North Kivu where the serious escalation of fighting and targeted killings is reported to be taking place,” stated Mudavadi.

Retired President Uhuru Kenyatta who is the facilitator for the DRC peace talks, briefed Mudavadi on progress made in the DRC peace initiative.

Roles of Mudavadi, Gachagua in Government
Constitutionally, the Prime Cabinet Secretary assists the President and the Deputy President in the coordination and supervision of Government Ministries and State Departments.

In addition, the Prime Cabinet Secretary Chairs and co-ordinates National Government legislative agenda across all ministries and state departments in consultation with and for transmission to the Party/Coalition Leaders in Parliament.

The Kenyan constitution allows the deputy president to deputize the President in the execution of the President’s functions in accordance with Article 147 of the Constitution.

The Deputy President chairs Cabinet Committees and oversees the implementation of Cabinet decisions across all Ministries and State Departments.

Meanwhile, Kenyans will be forced to part ways with Ksh200,000 or face a five-year jail term for using the word ‘Riggy G’ in contravention of the trademark law.

This is after the Kenya Industrial Property Institute (KIPI) confirmed accepting a trademark application by Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua on April 30.

In a document shared by the institute, the deputy president applied for the trademark on November 10, 2022, stopping other individuals from using the name without his permission.

Unless someone files a valid opposition within a period of six months, Gachagua will have full rights to use the phrase ‘Riggy G’ in all types of printed material, clothing and headgear, and entertainment events, among others.

Ghasia za gathesha will try everything to create a rift between the two. Uhuru should eat his tomatoes of a failed presidency where he could not come to a simple agreement with his DP quietly. Ulevi yake haiwesmake kwa serikali ya teetotalers

Right mdvd after ten years will be very irrelevant,he is retiring with kk regime we will experience a new order

That motor mouthed DP is best placed at arm’s length. Anaeza ropokwa at anytime, any place.

Deputy jesus anacheza safe banae … mudomo baggy anaweza ropokwa siri kali ya kenya kwisha.

Kagege @makamasi, the boss is the boss, and if his deputy doesn’t agree with him the deputy should quit. It is not the duty of the boss kubembeleza deputy, akwende na huuko kama hazikizani na boss wake. So uhuru was right. And uhuru moved kenya from a 3rd world shithole to a country that has first world infrastructure in terms of reli, roads, stima, Internet etc.

Wasapere mambo yao iliisha na mlevi gathecha, Ruto chose RigyG coz he knows the big mouth won’t make it beyond DP position,
On the other hand madvd is a presidential material,
Wasapere should forget presidency for the next 50 yrs,

It’s the leader’s duty to make sure they are in sync with their underlings. if you are a general in a war, and your field commanders are not in sync with your thoughts, you have failed. Today if safaricom were to go down the toilet, it is the CEO who carries all blame. Uhuru is directly responsible for his failure in the excutive. Ruto had no role to play in maintaining the relationship. He can talk a big game but at the end of it he failed

You talk that like it’s a bad thing. Meanhwile jaruo have not even a whiff of the executive

Do governors kneel before their deputies to make their relationship work?

Right G ako around as usual kucheza defence Rao asifunge Bao.

all the failed governors are those with a shitty wokring relationship with their deputies and MCAs

Si Mutua is your foreign minister even after kufukusa his deputy Kiala? I remember kachakua juzi telling deputy governors to be 100% loyal to their bosses and must never say anything negative about their bosses even to their wives.

He was a totoal disaster in his first term, he shaped up later thankfully. That’s wht a normal learning curve looks like. You are put to your paces and then mature up in the second leg. it’s very shameful for uhuru not to have mended things with ruto in the first term. if he was so sure ruto was evil and a thief as he liked to hint, why did he run with him a second term? That makes him dishonest at the least and a conman at the worst. He conned kalenjins to vote for him when he knew he had no interest in Ruto. He should have faced kalenjins and not acted decepitvely. Alternatively he could have gone to Raila before the election and told him to stand as his deputy. All in all Uhuru did a conjob and that is why many people were left with a distateful feeling in their mouth.

Optics matter. Imagine Gachagua and Uhuru meeting at Bujumbura state house Infront of other heads of state, media etc, I doubt if they would even shake hands. But mudavadi and Uhuru were very cordial when they met.

Gachagua is unpolished and uncouth. Ever seen him eat?

Imagine him there in Bujumbura at a State Dinner… What a shame for Kenya… o_O:rolleyes::rolleyes:

Hehe but he can learn these things, see how his wardrobe has improved

Dude ain’t going nowhere for the next 20 years

Amewakilisha Ruto severally, Angola, Botswana na places zengine.

Juzi Ruto alikuwa anatravel na lazima Gachagua angebaki Kenya, president haezi kuwa nje pamoja na deputy

Gachagua- Mudavadi Policy Rivalry Is On Full Display…

Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua stated on Wednesday, May 10, that Kenya’s economy will recover within a year, contradicting the timeline given by Prime Cabinet Secretary (CS) Musalia Mudavadi.

Speaking in Runda, Nairobi, where he addressed mourners at the home of Nyeri Member of the County Assembly, Anastacio Gichohi Kabaire, who had lost his wife Elizabeth Waigumo…

"The economy is recovering, and in one year, we will have recovered. We thank God for the rains. There is no starvation anymore because of the rains,

“We will have a bumper harvest. There will be enough food for consumption and sale. Our food security will improve,” noted Gachagua.

He attributed the projected growth to the rains in different parts of the country for the past two months.

However, Prime CS Musalia Mudavadi had given a longer timeline for economic recovery than Gachgua.

On April 15, Mudavadi asserted that the economy will take two to three years to recover.

“I am telling you as someone who has been the Minister of Treasury, it will take us two or three years for us to get relief from the hole we were put in,” he stated.

Mudavadi blamed the handshake government of former President Uhuru Kenyatta and former Prime Minister Raila Odinga for agreeing to the expensive Standard Gauge Railway (SGR) contract.

“For one project alone, through your taxes, the Government of Kenya must look for Ksh80 billion in a year to repay,” he uttered.

Due to the economic slump, the government proposed new taxes in a bid to collect more revenue in the Finance Bill 2023. The bill is set to be debated in parliament.

Some of the additional tax measures include a 5 percent excise tax on fake beards, fake eyebrows, and fake eyelashes.
