Many people say it’s debatable . Well , it’s not . Russia is both in Europe and Asia , with Ural mountains being the line separating the two sides . Geographically it may be part of both continents , however Russia is considered European , not Asian country . First of all , the capital Moscow is located in European Russia , where is living 80% of the Russian population . Important thing to mention is that no matter how many ethnic groups , religions and cultures there are in Russian Federation , majority people of Russia , obviously the ethnic Russians themselves are Europeans , Slavs and their culture is not Asian , neither are their origins and language .
