I’m surprised that even bantus used to circumcise females. Thought it was a cushite thing. I’ll do some research on its origins.

It was a beautiful culture across all communities. It was an avenue to pass our culture, teachings, everything sacred and of course keep em nyeges/ kimbelembele in check. The initiates were thoroughly prepared for marriage by older females, if you have interacted with an older woman who underwent the rite utajua they move different - solid proper women in every sense of the word
Too bad we discarded our customs and now we are rootless as far as culture is concerned. Hatujui are we African, Christian, liberals, conservative or whatever. Just vibes and blowing in the wind whichever is stronger even ya usenge

Globo homo will cancel you very fast if you’re “bigoted”
NGOs have shafted Sub-Saharans properly. Especially these pastoralist communities. The spineless politicians can’t take a hard stance on anything.
A time will come; in 2 decades or so, whereby speaking fluent vernacular will be a big deal. Vernacular languages zenyewe haziko documented.
Lets enjoy the decline!

culture evolves with time, and people tend to adapt to what seems good going forward - otherwise we would still have whatever culture our ape ancestors had

True but it ought to evolve organically at it’s own pace. That’s how Chinese, Japanese and other indigenous cultures have maintained their culture

We lost the plot when we embraced omusungu depravity. Christianity ndio ina malisa Sisi.

Hii handle ni ya turdmean

Totally
We are so lost coz we are disconnected from our true history and identity. We only know what we were taught by the musungu wine press after he had thoroughly whitewashed what he couldn’t pillage steal and destroy. I posit it to you that even the hedonism fully displayed hapa is as a result of our fragmented selves/identity crisis we lack access to the best of our culture and history that can uplift us and connect us to our land and ancestors. Just snatches of culture that doesn’t go skin deep.
It’s upon us to research, preserve and pass on whatever piece of history or knowledge you can lay your hands on coz like someone amesema hapo it’s all disappearing. I got nieces and nephews they know nothing about our culture. Ni kama black Americans yet wako Tu hpan kanairo. We are so thoroughly conquered

We lost it after gaining independence. We could have came up with our own English version. Write the way it’s spelled than writing like gugul for Google. Embrace our own culture.
