Can anyone tell me how payment during probation period is being handled in big companies, preferably at EABL? Can it be true that they do not pay during probation? Thanks in advance.
where did you get that rumour?
One of our former undergraduate students is trying to “convince” me to pay him a bridging until his probation is done…
When you are on probation, its the companies opportunity to see your value addition to it, its also your chance to show that you are the best suited for the job, well since you are working you should be paid full salary and allowances. Probation is a bridge for your confirmation. You have the job alright. Rarely would you find someone under probation getting fired unless through gross misconduct
my understanding of the term probation in employment is a period in which a new recruit is observed for suitability at the end of which he is appraised and if he is found ok he is offered a contract or permanent terms. The employee on probation is normally on full salary and benefits. In another instance a worker who has been pardoned or has been in a disciplinary case may be placed on probation to see if he has mended his bad ways.
perhaps your undergrad is on internship which may not be paid…
The net probation pay is actually higher than that of a permanent employee
I was at Moi T & R Hospital and they were paid.
Big companies will pay you during probation, let no one lie to you. How much they will pay you and how much you will get after confirmation depends with individual company policies
Coz of pension deductions for permanent employees I guess…
EABL gives a stipend. Can’t remember the figure.
why would you be paying him? probation people are paid.
in places like eabl they have processes. hiyo yake ni hadithi.
mkenya tu anataka kumangia kutoka sides mbili.
ama ni njaanuary inamwaste.
Probation means you are already employed but not yet confirmed. The employer wants to assess your capabilities before ‘committing’. And they pay you a salary…because you are working
Thanks for your answers. I take from your answers that your system is like ours in Germany. This student was on internship and afterwards got a job offer. He lied to me and tried to get an extra money… some of these young men did not learn that with honesty one can achieve more, they are dumb as a bucket of shrimp.
Anyone who doesn’t pay when you are on probation is an exploiter and they are stealing from ypu.
They offer free beer there…Is he sober?
for probationers or interns?

Yaaay, someone give me a medal.
Hata hivo, usitusi watu wetu. Tutakumaanda!
@aviator: No offence intended, my experience is being made by my work with meanwhile a big number of Kenyan students. Most of them cannot be blamed, but the few who tried to cheat on us and told us barefold lies (like the above one) are leaving a bad taste. Of course you find such people in my country and in all other countries in this world and also in yours.
What does “tutakumaanda” mean? Pls translate.
