Most people buy smartphone because of its internet feature. That means, your smartphone is literally of no use without internet connectivity.
However, the frustrating bit is the hefty data usage charges that comes along with a smartphone.
That said, here are ways in which you could save you large chunks of mobile data and may help reduce your monthly mobile data usage and could lead to tons of savings in the long run.
Restrict background data
There are apps that run in the background and eat up your mobile data without you even knowing.
You can actually check which apps are using how much data by going to the Data Usage option in settings and clicking on an individual app listed there.
Use mobile versions of sites
Instead of downloading site apps such as Facebook, Youtube, Twitter etc from playstore, use mobile site apps instead.
You can typically access the mobile version of a site just by typing www.sitename.com using your android browser. I recommend this browser because of it’s low data usage…click here
Download large files using wifi only
Unless absolutely necessary, you should abstain from downloading large files like songs and videos while using mobile data. It’s common sense but I thought I should remind you
I see you created a new account to Spam Phoenix Browser here.
I thought you stopped.
The amount of misinformation you are spouting: Phoenix browser saves data by blocking ads then consumes your data by loading ads in the notifications bar, lockscreen and in the browsers home screen in form of “news”. It is malware of the highest order. The answer to china’s spyware Opera Mini which unwitful Kenyans have unfortunately downloaded a lot.
How much are these guys paying you people anyway? One month doesn’t pass without Phoenix browser being spammed on here. If people wanted to block ads, they would get a browser that blocked ads without serving ads itself. Think Brave, Firefox mobile with Ublock Origin, Samsung Internet. Or run an adblocking DNS. Or a real adblocker like Adaway. Or Blokada. Not Phoenix browser.
Apps saves data. Go for the lite versions. Kuna fb lite and YouTube lite which i use. Also switch to 2g network. It reduces any background download data. Also instead of using chrome, native android browser and others, just switch to Opera mini old, its not on playstore but available on Google sites.
I always keep my data on all times, so i just use 2g as it consumes less power too.
Saving data wastes “time and data” Long time ago a certain telco known as Yu was offering unlimited 2G net for cheap however, downloading anything was just a problem since the download could take so long that the download link could even expire.youtube was not even something to think about with such a slow network. If you do the settings for your phone and apps there won’t be any data wastage even on a 4G network. I live in a place where only safaricom 4G is the best net you can get (no Airtel, fibre or telcom 4G or even 3G) but my laptop and other three devices are always connected yet only when I am totally idle for the whole day ndio I buy more than 1GB of gigabundles. My phone is always connected to the mifi throughout the day.
I always admired presto rendering engine on old opera mini for simple browsing, and yes, it does handle 2g better than new operamini with very little memory print too. However, that’s where the good story ends, the interstial ad system is really annoying. There’s no way to rid off the ads as they are server based. Infact minminguard doesn’t detect a single ad activity yet its there. If you have some tricks kindly share.
Opera mini beta version has no ads. Also Opera mini has generally changed their interstitial ads.
Wale wanacomplain natumia 2g acha nipambane na hali yangu…i have already stated 3g uses a lot of power, also phones heats alot and i don’t switch off data on my phone. So i usually switch between 2g and 3g depending on usage.
