ICT Membership groups

I have noted with concern that other members like KASNEB,Actuarials ,Architects,QS have bodies where through some defined method one becomes a member and through membership one is able to acquire more knowledge,get in touch with fellow professionals and to some extent some get referrals to do some project hence raking in money.

In IT I have been looking out for one credible group but there seem to be none.

Fellow developers,DBAs,Technical Consultants do you know of any group where one can sign up for such benefits if not more

Does it still exist. The last time I checked it was useless to register with them.

Bitange ndemo was developing an ICT body. He was still in the frame works stage. Too bad He was sacked before He was done.

i think its dead, my google search has led me to their website www.cskonline.org, however it looks like the site is infected by adclick trojans, clicking on any menu redirects to random websites

These ‘so’ called ICT professional bodies are so dormant and useless in the tech space and are field with sales people more than they have real technical people.

User groups are more active and serious and we have a ton of these in Nairobi. Most have telegram groups, WhatsApp channels, some on IRC like the Nairobi Linux User Group and slack

NairobiLUG - most serious one
MySQL, Java, Oracle etc groups are all there.

Let google be your partner. Lots of stuff to learn. Professional bodies are good on paper.Uniting here and putting together our skill-set would enable us undertake any project.
