Juzi kuna mtu alisema amenunua laptop ya 400k, the same bitter fellows came out of the wood work with their mouths foaming.

Sex sells, but sustainability of such a business model ndio kizungumkuti.

In the long term, you’ll be spending massive amounts of time recruiting, training and replacing staff.

In the streets, it’s Bro’s before Ho’s;
In business, it’s Skills before Skirts!

This reminds me of a club/restaurant in Upperhill that used to employ very cute girls fresh out of NIBS and other colleges. The club used to be full and they were doing well. But the turnover was crazy, I think the owner ran out of cute young replacements and people just stopped going there. Nowadays it deserted and looks like it’s on its deathbed

Nikiwa mgeni kwa biashara ya club kuna majamaa walinichocha nitafute madem warembo kuvutia customers. Ombwakni nikajituma nikaleta madem vitu. Ile visanga nilijionea in less than two weeks nilisema khandi tawe. Siku ya kufungua dem mmoja disappeared into thin air at 10pm. By end of week one, two more had gotten married by some simps. By the second week, two girls were fighting over men halafu kuna wale walikuwa wanaenda kunyoroshwa daily wanachelewa job kesho yake wakiingia they are still sleepy. Kufikia end month nilikuwa nimebadilisha madem kama wote. Niliwachana na hio upuss nikaambia customers mwenye anataka dem akuje na dem yake ama akanyage aende kwenye Kuna madem warembo. Siku hizi I am very deliberate in my recruitment. I prefer madem wako na mashida hata kama sii wasupu sana but at least ni wasafi juu wanajituma kazini Na hata akienda date anakumbuka job bado iko.

This is very weird reasoning. What is wrong with questioning the long term viability of a strategy? Halafu where is the guarantee that a strategy that works in the short run will also work in the medium and long term?

That’s for the guy who was able to expand from 1 to 5 stores to figure out, not you. You were neither here nor there when he opened a second one, a third one…and now a fifth one. He is the man in the arena. Everyone else is just an unpaid arm-chair analyst.

This right here is the solution to the problem of instability that comes with hiring young, beautiful women. The employee turnover will be high, no doubt. But you can manage it by making sure you have more than enough people to man the stations even if a third of them disappear. Where possible, keep them in circulation so they don’t get too used to the same people. This will keep them for longer.

Also, fringe benefits here and there could keep them longer. Vitu kama make-up, marashi, nguo, saloon allowance, off day etc can keep them motivated to stay for longer.They are in the business of looking good, and you are in the business of making money. The partnership works much longer where each party gets what matters to them. Good job.

I have worked with young women before, and one thing that hurts more than losing a girlfriend to a man is losing a good performer to the love illusion.

I know I can get a new phone tomorrow for a Kshs 1500 deposit, so that must be the most you can charge as a fundi. And it’s not much, unless you can fix like 10 phones a day.

we average 5-10k a day per shop

Not bad at all. I assume these are just phone fixes, not including laptop sales?
