Some technology has become obsolete even before it’s 10 years old. USB port is truly universal it has replaced a lot. Today’s USB is both output and input.
The next storage technology after SSD and magnetic storage is Artificial DNA storage. Computers in the near future will not be saving data on Hard Disks they will be saving a billion Terabytes on a chip the size of a 5 Shilling coin thanks to DNA storage.

Never caught up. Before broadband was everywhere and Netflix wasn’t main stream movies were released on HD after screening and also home video distribution. Around 2005 that was the next tech.
Though gramophones are now more than 100 years old but still going strong!
