Why are river systems so important to civilizational and population developments? I’ve argued out this point severally when it comes to the question of why we have such a small population for a continent our size and why regions like China and Europe developed and propagated superior cultures better than we did.
Under… populated?
Ile iko cannot even sustain itself hata ikikua reduced by half…Whats the significance if a high pop?
We are overpopulated. I hope we don’t end up like India or China were we have to build concrete jungles.
That is when we compare our populations to Asia and Europe. You can only talk about population densities when you are comparing with other continents.
You might then be tempted to ask why the northern hemisphere was favoured with easily navigable rivers and large areas of flat plains that have been favourable for growing important grain crops. It is because of the glaciers that worn down the plateaus over tens of thousands of years until the end of the last Ice Age more than ten thousand years ago. And the glaciers never advanced beyond the tropics because of the climate.
Africa is underpopulated bwana. China and India are over populated.
what are you struggling to tell us?
What are you struggling to understand?
what you are struggling to tell us
Ngite, why are you struggling to troll?

Africa is underpopulated and has a cultural problem. Africans think that other people’s things are better than theirs. thats a big problem. they also think that other people like Europeans, chinese are well wishers.
Hapa you misunderstood me. I’m not saying we should have 3 billion people. I’m merely calling attention to the impact of navigable river systems on cultural and populational development. Now that we understand why we are the way we are, how can we aspire to the same cultural developments that other modern succesful countries share? What do we do to eliminate retrogressive elements in our culture without necessarily following the methods used in other successful countries?
And your point is?..are we under or over populated per square km? Is it good or bad?
Mkimaliza kuongea tell me where improved healthcare fits in.
Long ago africans were dying of malaria etc You had to give birth to like 29kids and hope atleast 5 will go past 42
You must also compare the natural geography of Africa with Asia and Europe otherwise your comparisons will be incomplete.
France is roughly the same size as Kenya. Yet Kenya is 80 arid or semi arid while France is virtually the exact opposite.
Can Kenya then sustain the same population as France?
That’s a very good question and one I’m trying to answer. You should note that I started with why we are the way we are population and civilization wise. Now can we develop like Europe did with modern technology and do we need a high population to do that. Sudan has less than 100 million people when you compare it to a smaller yet more arid Egypt and yet the Nile passes through both. Nigeria has more people than the Congo yet the latter is larger and even more arable?
