I was thinking, instead if buying a 65’ tv one should opt for a projector.
Example a cheapest 65’ tv will cost around 70k while a good projector may cost around 30-40k depending on the brand. Advantage of projector is that it can project at least 100’.
This means if you had a budget of 70k, you can buy a projector, a home theater and a sofa. You can easily build a home cinema from the comfort of your house.
So wangapi tayari wako na home cinema kwa man cave zao? On YouTube nimeona videos challenging sana…
I’m thinking of investing in one pesa ndio nakusanya .I’ve decided to go with the new LG short throw projector (HU85LA) once it becomes available .Will probably set me back kitu 300K .As for the music system ,I’m yet to decide whether to go for an elaborate system or just a 5.1 sound bar system .
That will need a lot work on your room, it will have to be light-controlled. alafu projector za 30 to 40k ni basic, very average pic quality, the tv will have a way better pic quality than io projector
Projectors have become cheaper with the introduction of LED lamps. A good example is the XGIMI models which now compete with high end projectors like the Optoma. You can get a good 1080p at that price range.
unless you are on a tight budget, you are really better off with a 4k projector. something worthwhile that will serve you for years to come. be ready to spend at least 200k on something like the Epson Home Cinema 4010 for a truly cinematic experience with superb image quality and great contrast ratio. on the audio front, a 5.1 HT in a box system is a good place to start but the real experience lies with building your own setup with a Dolby Atmos/ DTS x equipped AV receiver

Also consider Xiaomi Mi Laser Projector .It will set you back less than 300K and you will end up with 150 inches at 50cm or less throw distance.

I have a dedicated media room (that I proudly designed and built). I have full control of lighting because there are no windows. For the projector, I have the Epson 8350. It’s 1080p (I really don’t care much about 4K stuff or 3D) but the picture quality is very good even with lights on. Screen- 120 inch from Elite Screens (fixed screen). Audio- Pioneer Elite 9.2 audio receiver. Speaker setup: front 3 (2 on each side of the screen and 1 below the screen for the center channel). Front surround: 2 (1 on each side, mounted on the ceiling above the first seating row). Surround back: 2 (1 on each side wall just behind the second row seating. Lastly, 2 rear speakers (1 on each side of the back wall). Because I built from the scratch, all wires are running behind the walls. I’m currently using only 1 powered Polk audio sub-woofer (at the front, but it’s more than enough).
My take: screen plus audio costs 2-3 times more than the projector! If you’re renting, just go for a simpler setup with soundbars. If you’re building a house, have the room designed and prewired during construction.
4K projector with a 5.1 HT in a box? I know you’re just giving an example, but this doesn’t cut it. You really don’t need a 4k projector- but if you buy one, you must also invest in a very good screen (screens are fairly expensive). As I explained in the thread above, screen and audio costs are generally several times more than the projector (I stated 2-3 times more from my personal experience, but could be higher than that).
LED models can run upto 20,000hrs. So on avarage it can last upto 10years.
Chinese have adopted the LED models…hizo za laser and 4K are too expensive for a normal peasant. If you Google online you will get a decent projector. I prefer the XGIMI which will consider to buy in the near future.
I’m being conservative.
Front/Screen- 120" Elite Screens with black velvet cover around the frame. I painted the speaker covers to match the walls; bad idea? I wanted to avoid distractions and the main focus to be on the screen (especially with all the lights turned off).

Rear, with lights dimmed. Again, speakers painted to match the walls. I’m yet to invest in proper seats, but this works for now. The room is big enough for 3 rows of 4 seats each (to comfortably seat at least 12 adults). The floor behind the front seats is raised 12 inches (tiered seating). I can easily add another tiered level for the 3rd row, but I’ll probably add a dry bar with tall bar stools (I already have a wet sports bar in another section of the basement).
