Hass Towers 66 Floors (Africa Tallest Building)and 40 Floors been constructed in Upper Hill

I actually thought there is a glut commercial space in upper hill. However it has only led to strong competition for world class, high end, quality designed and pleasing architecture. Hass Towers has set the bar high and construction is progressing well. The massive basement and foundation dig continues.

That foundation pic is the same one i saw a year back. Is there no progress?

Upper hill does not have the infrastructure to support such…

Good. New Top of Africa. Giving Johannesburg compe

Nope, these are recent photos just before the rains two weeks ago.

meffi wewe ā€œbeenā€. Tena hiyo tower in a wenyewe. hakuna vile nafaa kufeel positive about it unless i know more about it more that just ā€œtallestā€

Hope they considered the capacity of the existing sewer line.

Imagine all the sh**it leaving that building.

Aya why are you catching catching feelings…si lazima you feel positive about it, in fact I didn’t know you existed until now and certainly not before I posted. You can be a grammar Nazi all you want and speak perfect English but it wouldn’t validate anything. Relax even the richest Chinese guy worth $20 billion can’t say a sentence in English. The message has been communicated and that’s all I needed.

Yes, the sewer n water lines were upgraded however I’m also sceptical. We have like 10 tall skyscrapers coming up there and I hope for the best.

Not at the moment, we really need to improve the infrastructure first across the city before taking on Jo’burg. Roads, sewer, water, garbage n slum upgrading. The only advantage we have over them is that they have serious crime issues due to gangs, drugs n guns. They are also suffering from inadequate power supply as they demand overgrew supply.

3 years ago KPLC built a sub-station just next to this site for Upper hill alone and layer underground high power transmission lines. They also upgraded water and sewer up to Langata/Karen but I’m not sure of the capacity. Roads are finally getting finished though on this site it didn’t matter coz it right at Halle Selassie road just opposite NHIF.

I hope we see such news in the manufacturing sector, even though this is a welcome development. Because I feel Kenya has a lot of manufacturing potential especially at the coast.

Those maafakaz have been digging that site for more than a year…enyewe money has been poured

Would our manufactured goods be competitive cost-wise?

We have to start from somewhere. I believe they can be competitive.

Phase two of mombasa port expansion starts this year and it coincides with the start of Dongo Kungu Free Trade Zone on a 300 acres land adjacent to the ongoing Dongo Kungu bypass project. They are all funded by JICA and just awaiting release of funds from Japan to begin. This will be the biggest industrial export zone in Kenya and region. Hundreds of 1000’s of jobs will be created and our balance of trade improved. Lastly Kengen has 5 industrial sites at olkaria that has attracted interest from usa garment industry and China. They are attractive as they are close to the SGR Naivasha proposed station/route, they will be connected with the cheap geothermal power and steam for production. Once President Uhuru signs the Special Economic Zone act into law which its still in parliament, then Ministry of Trade can finalize the allocations of the zones to investors. Its going to be huge and i wonder if Naivasha has enough accommodation for the workers or the investors will be forced to do it themselves.

@spear where do you get your information from in regards to upperhill. Us person in the construction industry I know the impact that those building will have on our infrastructure is of epic proportions…

it’s not going to be pretty.we already have both shortage of water &electricity I can only imagine the amount that is required to run such.

Electricity is not a problem with current investiments going into the national grid. Water shortage will only enhance recycling technologies that we currently dont use. Theres a solution in everything in technology. The developed world faced and overcame these ā€˜small’ problems long ago
