Save us 8 minutes with a summary . Goat milk is healthier but less available and expensive here in Kenya. Educate us on camel milk benefits. I see camel milk bars coming up, where I live there is even a camel milk delivery guy as waria have started taking over the neighbourhood. Every day around 10am he shows up with his mitungi and it’s not cheap 200 a litre

1. Cow Milk

  • Protein: ~3.2g per 100ml (contains A1 and A2 beta-casein, which some people may find harder to digest).
  • Fat: ~3.6g per 100ml (saturated fats dominate).
  • Carbohydrates: ~4.8g per 100ml (lactose).
  • Vitamins & Minerals: Rich in calcium, vitamin D, B12, and phosphorus.
  • Digestibility: Some people may experience lactose intolerance or sensitivity to A1 beta-casein.

2. Goat Milk

  • Protein: ~3.1g per 100ml (contains A2 beta-casein, which is easier to digest for some).
  • Fat: ~4.1g per 100ml (smaller fat globules, easier to digest).
  • Carbohydrates: ~4.4g per 100ml (lactose, but slightly less than cow milk).
  • Vitamins & Minerals: Higher in calcium, potassium, and vitamin A compared to cow milk. Lower in B12.
  • Digestibility: Often better tolerated by those with mild lactose intolerance or cow milk protein sensitivity.

3. Camel Milk

  • Protein: ~3.5g per 100ml (contains unique proteins like lactoferrin and immunoglobulins).
  • Fat: ~3.5g per 100ml (healthier fatty acid profile, including more unsaturated fats).
  • Carbohydrates: ~4.9g per 100ml (lactose, but some studies suggest it may be better tolerated).
  • Vitamins & Minerals: Rich in vitamin C (unusual for milk), iron, and zinc. Lower in cholesterol.
  • Digestibility: May be suitable for some lactose-intolerant individuals due to its unique composition.

Key Takeaways:

  • Cow Milk: Standard, widely available, but may cause digestive issues for some.
  • Goat Milk: Easier to digest, richer in certain minerals, but less common.
  • Camel Milk: Nutrient-dense, potential benefits for immunity and digestion, but harder to find and more expensive.
