Not really thaaat much of a soccer fan, but back in the days of TV I spent a bit of time enjoying this show that used to be broadcast on one of the stations, can’t remember which one. It was unique in the way the stories were told, the narrators voice, it didn’t run too long, and it showcased lots of teams and players.
The name just weirdly but inaccurately popped up in my mind and sure enough google was there to correct and point me in the right direction.
For those who remember, enjoy the Futbol Mundial playlist on YT. Disclaimer that its old football since the show has been discontinued years ago, but with some luck it may kindle the memories and maybe even whet appetites for the upcoming world cup, 2022.
Blame YouTube for making most of these football shows irrelevant. Why wait for a weekly 20-30 mins show next week for this week’s news, reviews and analyses, when YT, Twitter and Reddit have the same content almost immediately?
However, there’s still a gap to be filled when it comes to legacy content. Documentary types. Online streaming services like Netflix and Showmax are helping with this. In the build up to Qatar 2022, just spare a few coins for a Showmax subscription. I can confirm the collection below will more than satisfy you:
Futbol Mundial was a great show ! I followed it religiously.
European Soccer Show , Western Union World Football on STV were also great.
There was also a show on KBC called African Soccer Show that was hosted by Carol Tshabalala of Supersport
