Australia-Based Kenyan Man Dies After Being Tragically Stabbed by Fellow Countryman

A Kenyan man has died in Melbourne’s south-east after a minor disagreement with a fellow Kenyan escalated into deadly violence, sending shockwaves through Australia’s Kenyan community.

According to 7News Australia, the two men, who were friends, had arrived together at a home in Clyde on the night of December 22.

CCTV footage later showed them arguing in Swahili outside the house, moments before the disagreement turned physical.

What began as a brief exchange quickly spiralled, ending in a violent stabbing that left Francis Muteru Githinji critically injured.

Friends and bystanders attempted to rush the victim to hospital, but tragedy compounded the chaos when the car they were travelling in was involved in a crash on the way.

“He had two wounds in the stomach that looked so deep, and he had blood all over,” an eyewitness told the media.

The 36-year-old was later airlifted to hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries. His alleged attacker, also a Kenyan national, has since been charged with murder.

Neighbours told the police that the victim had lived in Melbourne since 2016, but the motive behind the dispute remains unclear.

Local reports indicate that the suspect had been renting the property and was reportedly behind on bills, though police have not confirmed whether this played any role in the confrontation.

An obituary released by KCV Media & Communications Department described Muteru as a warm and kind individual, well known and deeply valued within the Kenyan community in South-East Melbourne.

Cain wasn’t Kenyan, and he discovered murder as a conflict resolution method.
