These nyamakima traders are behaving like brats, competition is usually very good, it forces people to be creative.
We have Egyptians, Iranians etc. traders all selling products from their countries, also Pakistanis are competing with locals in second hand cars and spares imports but nobody is complaining.
But these others folks want to be treated special. They continue exploiting Kenyans yet they forget Kenya is growing, no one wants to go to back street shops anymore to do a simple shopping.
They should be smart and open large shops in emerging towns instead of remaining in dingy locations then they’ll start ranting again.
Somalis are big in retail but they are not bothered by the chinese. The market is too big but only the innovative and creative will hack it.
We support local shops but there’s no way a middle class guy will go shopping and struggle getting a parking or being afraid of muggers and conmen.
Soon a Pakistani will open a big spare part shop along Thika road and that will mark the end of Kirinyaga road cartels who have simply refused to purge off the conmen and thugs among them.
One thing they keep forgetting china operates on the principal of reciprocity. Already their leaders have picked up the issue.
See the entitlement in this read.
Speaking on Inooro TV, Ms Nyokabi said the appointment was granted by Mr Gachagua following threats by the traders to stage mass action aimed at pushing for profit guaranteeing pricing concept.
“We wanted to demonstrate against the government following serious infiltration of our business space by foreigners especially from China and Pakistan,” she said.
