MCA is elected ward rep is appointed. I may be wrong but I think he meant ward administrator?
Yeah it’s the best
Position of women reps was created to ensure gender equality/rule is sustained in NA.Now thats why we have women reps.
Exactly! The crafters of this constitution, the so called Committee of Experts, shamelessly copy-pasted constitutions from around the world & bequethed us a hydra-headed monster…what the activists & NGO-type experts stuffed CoE failed to know is that certain provisions are area-specific…
You can’t blame those who wrote the katiba. Go back in history and see what the then Mpigs were proposing when they met to discuss the draft by the COE. Mpigs walisema there’s no way the Senate will be superior to them, so they proposed a watered down senate and a powerful national assembly. A few years later those same Mpigs found themselves in the Senate with no powers at all, they started crying foul. You can even recall a few tussles between the two houses in the first years of the new constitution.
Politicians are short sighted in Kenya, they only think of their interests there and then, not about others or the generation to come.
Under which law?
Cannot happen simply because;Tribe.
I would love to see How Rift Valley would be merged.Specifically Nakuru, given that it is more like Central Kenya than it is to any other place. You can only merge the North Eastern Counties, those of Ukambani and the ones in Western except Bungoma as well as Luo Nyanza comfortably.
The rest would be chaos.Either too small to be viable(Who would Embu and Meru merge with to form a region.Same to Samburu??) Or intra-tribal rivalry(Specifically in Central. No way Kiambu,Muranga and Nyeri can merge again.)
The return of regionalism in Coast Province.Well you want the Wabara vs Wapwani drama to come back??
You are forcing pessimism & complicating things for nothing. No way Nyeri, muranga and Kiambu would merge? What? This is not the 1970s, you are trying too hard to force dispute everywhere.
Narok and Kajiado will form a Maa state. Embu & Meru will join central. Samburu, marsabit & Isiolo are geographically big enough to became States by themselves. Laikipia and Nakuru will merge quite easily as a buffer state btwn central and rift valley, leaders of those two counties even want that.In fact the most difficult region will be the Pokot area. Merging the coast will actually be easier than NEastern which has a large borana population.
Change is never easy, those who fear change will forever be stuck in mediocrity. Forming the US states was not easy, California is also divided btwn the conservative watu wa bara vs watu wa pwani (LA,Sanfransico). Upstate NewYork vs NYC etc.
If you only expect 0% difficulty before you are prepared to change then good luck with life.
My fren, it seems you are out of touch with reality. Ask yourself why Meru and Tharaka Nithi counties were not merged into one county, or Kisii and Nyamira… the local politics will not allow it.
My fren Tharaka and mbeere were created to increase Mt.Kenya counties for more representation and more funds. The plan was to also split Muranga in 2.
There is more animosity btwn luhya counties than btwn My.Kenya counties.
Here Outsiders are trying to imagine faux enimity in Mt.Kenya region like its 1976.
If you feel forming a Federal system in Kenya is incredibly impossible Science-Fiction then let us agree to disagree. My main goal here was to look for ways to reduce the size of government.
I realized long ago arguing with federal nonbelievers is a waste of time.
It’s the people not the structure.
How are people allowed to steal and get away with it like that?
How are people allowed to be so incompetent and unproductive and get away with it?
You won’t get progress changing the government without changing the people
You remind me of this old school of life clip on Max Weber. The summary of the clip is that no matter how much natural resources a nation has it is the culture and nature of the people that are the most important determinants of national prosperity and development.
More and more female Mps are getting elected, soon it will be the norm. So I ask in constituencies with female MPs plus women rep, aren’t the ladies overrepresented.
it’s impossible. Govt will always grow.
I am from Coast and I spent a lot of time in Central.
The moment Coast merges, expect “Wabara” to be deported en masse.
Devolution killed MRC as members suddenly found themselves in several counties and not Coast.Returning it to a region will see pro MRC politicians, currently spread in several counties come together.
You are deluded if you think the Embu and Meru will join Central.
Hujui maringo ya mkoa wa kati. Nyeri and Kirinyaga can be one entity. Muranga and Kiambu another. All of them as one is pure chaos you are inviting since all of them will be jostling for power.
Last I checked Californians until very recently and New York residents are predominantly of one race; White. Most New york metro residents(Metro, not city) are White(51%) and most rural New Yorkers(80%) are White.
In coast wabara are wabara and wapwani are wapwani because they are from different tribes from different parts of the country.
You have a poor sense of Georgaphy.Which part of North Eastern, pray tell, has Boranas since 1954???Where???All of them are Somali through and through. What distiguishes them is clan. Garissa is Ogaden 100% but has subclans like Abdiwak,Abdirazzak and Abdullah. Wajir has three main clans Ogadenis in the South,Ajuran in the North West and Degodia in the Center and East. Manderra is over 80%Gureh clan with Degodias in the far South and a few Maheran from Ethiopia and Somalia.
Where are these Boranas???Boranas live in Isiolo(majority) and Marsabit(largest ethnic group but can never rule because the others banded up together against them).
Standard 5 Social Studies by Malkiat Singh. You need that book.
You are too eager for a fight.
I am tired and I an not in the mood with going back and forth with you, you are all over the place where do I even start…
Mandera & Wajir have large areas of borana with Somalis. I will reply to the rest of your rant if I get time. Goodbye.

And I am from central & I have been to the coast so do not insinuate here you have some sort of special insight. The dumb differences you are wanking about won’t be around in 10-15 years which is the time period this thread is focused on.
If you are so eager to keep silly county governors and county senators then so be it, you can keep your opinion
Coast is my home.Huweziniambia unatujua kutuliko.
Those differences were there in 1963.They will be there in 2063
Lool!!!Map Number 2.Unaona Borana North Eastern Wapi???
Onyesha!!!
Wapi???
Again, you show you are an idiot of the highest order,VALIDATING MY CLAIM with your own so called ‘Evidence’.
SMH!!!Ata umewahienda huko ndio useme hivyo???
Lool!!!
You do not know how those people live!!
Map Number 1 is like a pre colonial map. There are no Oromos in Jubaland. They all moved from there to the Ethiopian highlands long ago. THEY WERE from Jubaland but the so called areas shaded are currently occupied by the Majarteen ,Maheran and I can see an Ogadeni area shaded as Oromo.SMH!!!
Where are the Somalis in the house to educate this idiot???
Do you even know how Somali Clans occupy territory???
In Wajir THE BRITISH REMOVED ALL BORANAS FROM WAJIR COUNTY IN 1954!!!
That is why I asked since when did Boranas ever exist in Wajir in our lifetime!!!
There are Somalis from the Isaqq Clan who live with Boranas .They are not Somalis native to Kenya but those who fought in WW2 for the Brits and were given land in Isiolo,Migori,Kakamega Narok etc to settle there
In Isiolo.
The reverse does not exist. The British made sure of that. Boranas do not even graze in Wajir.(The reverse is true.Somali herders go right into Borana territory every September, more specifically Merti area)The British drew the boundaries of North Eastern EXACTLY in Line with Somali clans.Even the Constituencies of Wajir used to follow clan lines until 2013!!
