In Windows 10, all I have to do is select one program associated with a media type. Simple. The Photos app for images and pictures.
In Windows 11, I have to select a program for every single file format listed. Every. Single. One.
Windows 11 is not an upgrade.

AFTER WINDOWS 7, Microsoft tried to copy iOS and started putting unreasonable hardware requirements. Windows 10 would download endless updates.
Move to Linux and avoid all these problems. Forget about viruses.
Modern day Linux distros are easy to use. They are simplified to be easy for noobs coming from Windows. No need to learn advanced Terminal commands za akina Sudo Apt install …
Ile siku hiyo Windoz 11 itaanza mambo za OneDrive ndio utamea akili. You CUNT disable it once it starts asking OneDrive Sync

Till the land, elders, and buy whichever version of Windows you want. They do free upgrades for developers.
Total Cost (excluding MSDN discounts) = $9.99

Well, in Microsoft’s defense, they’re not making much from consumers so you can suck it up and wait for Windows 12.

I started using Microsoft products when I was 8 years old with Ms-DOS on Windows 95 followed by Microsoft Office. I have spent my entire life learning Microsoft stuff so I can tell you with confidence that the consumer isn’t even in the top 5 considerations right now.

Me too, I used Microsoft 95 as a little boy. I think Windows peaked at Windows 7. From there ot has been a pretty standard process of enshittification. Current CEO has hedged all his bets on AI and Cloud and doesn’t care for consumer preference.

If it helps, most of Microsoft’s current software engineering department started programming in Java and other web application languages, so we can assume that Windows will continue using 60% of memory while idling on the desktop for the foreseeable future.
Just like Windows Vista and Windows 8.
