Cheap Internet via Satellite - VSAT - 2016 year of change

This thread was triggered by that of one @ibrahim300 . For years we’ve known VSAT to be extremely expensive. Especially for those of us disconnected from Zuku’s grid. Sisi faiba tunasikianga kwa TV pekee yake, na tukiwa town. The local partners for Yahclick! have always been Simbanet who have been providing packages mainly targeted at small businesses that I have always considered prohibitive for the simple home user.

You don’t have to fear this ‘VSAT’ name anymore.I’m proud to announce that cheap ‘unlimited’ internet has been under our noses for a while now afterall. When I checked Yahclick’s website today for local partners, I noticed a new player, Skynet. Maybe they’ve been operating for a long time but I believe they only partnered with Yahclick recently, otherwise someone would have mentioned them here a long time ago.

Prices start for as low as KES 2,842.00 (Yes that comma separator is in the right place) for 5GB. Now I know some will say apana tambua bundles ndogo ndogo za peasants. But they have, like all other partners of Yahclick, a freezone starting at 1am to 6am where bandwidth is unmetered. Their best package for small time peeps like me would be the Click 20 for 5,884.00 which I’d say is better than Orange’s unlimited with 20Gb monthly + freezone manenoz. .Best of all, it can be installed anywhere in the country. Change is coming brothers. Acha nimalizie hekaya apo. Ndio hii mbicha na link

considering i rarely stay up beyond 12.00 am to take advantage of the freezone i will stick with my orange 20 gb for 3k for now (we are able to go with this with my college going son quite comfortably…washuke kiasi…

You can schedule downloads in IDM/torrents to happen at this time, all you have to do is leave your computer on, sio kungoja hadi io saa

have never had need of them, i am actually a light user. what is the installation cost?

Installation fees ziko juu unfortunately, about 47k for equipment. Story za installation wanasema 18k! You can however have @Meria Mata do the installation for about 3k.

This is another interesting offer from them. Link

We are comparing toyotas and nissans here. There isn’t one option for all scenarios, I just believe its a viable option, and it’s good to have options.

i want internet for my use, at my own time, at a price that will not take ugali out of my child’s mouth. zuku installs at about 20k, monthly 3500. orange flybox 8500, monthly 3k, if you have anything cheaper than this then come talking of cheap…

Installation naweza kuifanya mwenyewe…yahclick wanatumia yahsat satellite @52deg… I bet hizi equipments naweza kuzipata cheap nikiulizia wasee kwa JF plus Luthuli ave, that’s not a big deal…shida ni kuwa some kenyans want to siphon the locals kwa kucharge doo nyingi for no reason

I am aware of Zuku, lakini sio kila mtu ana io option. Orange is also good, lakini network ya 3g iko places chache. Sisi wa mashinani tuna Safaricon na Airtel tu … na airtel ni kubahatisha

tumehamia mashinani for a while now…hii story ya 24kbps tumeshachoka nayo already

watu wa mwitu hands up hehehe

I will stick to my mwitu. I only need to buy a new line once in a while

Internet in Chaka, Naro Moru, Nanyuki and Timau is kshs300 per month, per device. Unlimited. Only available in densely populated areas. Satellite is for ktalk millionaire who drive Bentley Bentyga and own cabins in the woods.

Thank Zeus we have zuku here, as unreliable as it is

Mawingu wifi?

Just watching.Nitakuja if I see anything cheaper.

Yap. If you visit this areas take note of the bucket like antennas.

Nimejaribu kuona vile hii kitu ni cheap nimekumbuka nyinyi watu ni millionaires, 5gb 2k ata kama iyo story ya 1am? wacha ningojee competitor wa zuku 2041
