Busy schedule for President Kenyatta as he arrives for the 70th UN General Assembly

NEW YORK, 25 September 2015, (PSCU) —President Uhuru Kenyatta has arrived in New York, US, to attend the 70th session of the United Nations General Assembly.
The President, who arrived shortly after 9.00 a.m (4.00 p.m. Kenyan time), will in the afternoon co-chair an interactive dialogue session on the Post 2015 Development Agenda at the UN Headquarters.
The President, whose schedule is the busiest ever for a Kenyan Head of State at the UN General Assembly, will later deliver a statement at the special United Nations Summit for the Adoption of the Post 2015 Development Agenda.
After delivering his statement the President will resume to co-chair the interactive dialogue session on the Post 2015 Development Agenda.
On Saturday morning, President Kenyatta will attend a breakfast meeting hosted by the Business Council for International Understanding at the Waldorf Astoria Hotel.
The President will later hold a bi-lateral meeting with the Prime Minister of Japan, Mr Shinzo Abe, after which he will hold another meeting with the President of Tanzania, Mr Jakaya Mrisho Kikwete.
On Saturday afternoon, President Kenyatta will attend the Third Japan-Africa Economic Communities Summit Roundtable. The Roundtable will be chaired by the Japanese Prime Minister and is being held as part of the preparations for the next Tokyo International Conference on African Development that will be hosted by Kenya next year.
In the evening, President Kenyatta will receive the ICTs in Sustainable Development Award at the 150th anniversary of International Telecommunications Union Gala Celebration hosted by the ITU and the Global Sustainability Foundation. The event will be held at the UN Headquarters.
On Sunday, he will deliver a statement at the Global Leaders Meeting on Gender Equality and Women’s Empowerment that will be co-hosted by China and the United Nations. The event will be chaired by President Kenyatta and President Xi Jinping of China
The President will later hold bilateral meetings with the Presidents of Mozambique (Mr Jacinto Filipe Nyusi) and Guyana (Mr David Granger). He will also hold another bilateral meeting with the Prime Minister of Antigua and Barbados, Mr Gaston Browne.
In the evening of Sunday, President Kenyatta will chair a High-Level Side Event on “Fast Track to Ending AIDS for Young People for Development."
On Monday, President Kenyatta will attend the official opening of the 70th Session of the UN General Assembly General Debate and will deliver his statement later in the afternoon.
The President is also scheduled to hold bilateral meetings with the Prime Minister of UK, Mr David Cameron, the President of Latvia, Mr Raimonds Vejonis and the Prime Minister of Sweden, Mr Stefan Loften.
The President will later attend a summit on UN Peace-keeping co-hosted by President Barack Obama and the UN Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon.
The Head of State will later attend another high-level meeting on Somalia.
A packed schedule awaits President Kenyatta on Tuesday also.
