Paul Otuoma has made his first entry into Busia town, accompanied by more than 35 private security guards and police officers, marking his first-ever visit to the town since assuming office.
The heavily guarded arrival comes amid heightened political tension, with reports of rival groups threatening to disrupt the visit.
Security officers were seen securing major roads and public spaces as the governor moved through the town.
Sources indicate that the tight security was deployed to prevent possible confrontations and ensure the smooth launch of the Busia Matatu Welfare Savings and Credit Cooperative Society.
Since being elected, Otuoma has largely avoided public appearances in Busia town.
His last attempt in 2023, while hosting Raila Odinga, descended into chaos when he was heckled and forced off the podium.
