The county security committee said the move was a “short-term” measure aimed at reducing tension and allow for the reorganisation of security operations.
This means nothing, Alshabaab has been active in those parts during the Ramadan. Boinet had issued a caution about pending attacks during the Ramadan period but typical of Kenyans from a region I won’t name, you think the caution by the Americans carries more weight than the one issued by your IG.
Now give me the caution by Boinet warning about heightened Al Shabaab activities during the same period. Go on, search for it on YouTube or from the official IG communication team. Am sure you will say you can’t find it.
Whats the use of our troops being in zoomalia if we cant secure our own borders,
Why cant KDF atleast deploy one of its helicopter gunships on these alshaitan as soon as they are sighted by the locals .
the alkebabz have perfected the art of hiding in plain sight till its too late,so a military gunships is out of question.plus too many collateral damage for such drastic action huku sio warzone.
But when its all said n done we need to come up with a better way of securing our border with somali. That shit is way too porous n its costing us alot of lives
Not even the usa can deploy all its gunships between the border regions and still make it 100% safe. Remember this are people who go to die each time they plan an attack. alshabab has changed tactics to full insurgency where they sneak into Kenya posing as locals and hide their guns. When the security offices patrol passes they look for soft targets like moving buses, carry out the attack and slip back into somali. KDF needs to adjust their methods to include counter insurgency and plant ranger troops as locals and scouts to get the terrorists. That said that Mandera road is too close to the border of somali, just a few kilometers and its the lifeline of Mandera town. If that road isn’t cleared then food supplies will ran low in Mandera town.
waiguru messed us, NYS was buiding a security fence that was to be patrolled by KDF. However its funding stopped to allow audits and verification. Lets hope its revived again. It was the second line of defense of our border.
Sometimes you have a good argument but hii ujinga ya ukabila na generalisations… Hata uspo sema the region it doesn’t change the fact that your sentiments are wrong. Kufa haraka nchi ipone
now that sounds like a step in the right direction.the attacks in mandera are claiming alot of lives each year.imekua ni kaa huko ndio target practice ya alshabab recruits.way too easy to successfully attack us.
My sentiments weren’t confined to Ktalk only. From his tone I knew where he was coming from hence my comment. If you are hurt, it confirms you also agree with the same narrow minded tribal bloggers he’s indirectly quoting.
Yes, you can not have enough intelligent officers to look at everyone movement between Kenya/somali border regions considering the border is porous. KDF has tried to work with and train somali national army but they lack the equipment, personnel and numbers to effectively patrol their own side of the border while giving us the intel we need that;s accurate and timely. That should have been our first line of defense. Secondly the locals should really embrace the security forces and alerting them when terrorists are spotted. There is a rapid respond team in the border regions that can be deployed instantly.
So according to you either i agree with you or I agree with him. Who’s being narrow minded now? What he said had it’s naivety but you seemed to have taken that as an excuse to one-up a whole group you seem to imagine is in conflict with you. It’s even worse that you thought it was clever to say “Kenyan’s from a region i won’t name”. Come on man… really?
the best line of defence against such attacts should be in inteligence gathering and quick prosecution of the alshabab sympathizers who seem to habour this rotten blood thursty murderers.the local community needs to be made to feel like they are kenyans so as to creat patriotisim.i believe this way the security agencies can have better results in weeding out the criminal elements.lets face it,the maginalisation of NE kenya has a very big part in sympathazing with alshababs .
