Aren’t they the same ghasias that are starving? Tena wazaane kama panya?
Higher population has been proven that it cannot lead to economic growth in Africa and Nigeria is a good example. Western countries are limiting immgrants even by building walls. But Africans does what they can only succeed at.
There is nothing wrong with our population, but there is a lot that is wrong with our politics, and the way we run both our personal and public lives. The key is in how we use our resources–land, water, minerals, forests, animals, space, time, human skill, strategic position, regional relations, money, etc. I guess the enduring personal and collective question to ask ourselves is, Are we doing the right things, the right way, at the right time?
A Somali woman consider eight as the ideal number of children…sa unapata jamaa akona two wives and sixteen children…jamaa’s full time job nikuchunga tu mifugo kwa desert…![]()
Out of the 7 or 8 kids, a good number do not survive to adulthood. In fact the high child mortality rate is one of the reasons to have many kids.
What motivates them to have such large families?what joy is there to have a kid if they’ll suffer malnutrition and lack of good education and resources to compete with peers?

Most folks in villages own less than acre. And they have like 4 kids. So that means each kid will get less than quarter. In tea and coffee areas that means farming will loose meaning.
Nationally, farming land itself is not the problem. Ability to produce food is not even the problem. The problem is that the land available is not being put to proper agricultural use, because there is no water where water is needed. If water was available throughout the country, people who wish to farm would not be forced to congregate in the little farms their parents owned. They can spread the population to areas that are empty of people (eg northern Kenya). People will move voluntarily where they can buy land and build homes and live well.
Let’s be honest. Some places were not meant for farming. Unless a big river like Nile passes through. Ukitaka kujua, uliza watu was buroti maguta maguta.
The opposite is true. Most of the land which has been subdivided for real estate is mostly the arable land
out of the 7 , 5 will die in childhood one will join alshabab and get killed .
