It is not fate. It is not a curse. It is not something that happened to you because your parents named you Munyua or Wanjohi. It is not shida za kujitakia. It is not a sign of failure or weakness. It cannot be reasoned with. You cannot bargain with it. You cannot make deals or promises with it. It IS something that you can overcome, but you cannot do it alone. Your wife cannot fix it for you. Your family cannot do it either. No matter how much they may want to they simply cannot understand what it is like to be an addict. You need help, professional help, a doctor, counselor, peers who have been through the same thing and made it.

Noone can advice you that you must get off the booze, you have to realise that you are alcohol-addicted and need help from others, but never from the family or friends. They can support you on the long stony way, but nothing else. Not all are strong enough, but you will see it pays to hang in there.
