Unless you are really passionate about books and want to be a researcher, is
there really an economic benefit to getting a doctorate degree? Lecturers get very little money so why would a person put in 4 years of effort for this?
Intellectual curiosity? The desire to contribute to knowledge…
If your motivation is money, especially in Kenya, utaumia…
. Working for local universities is among one of the many ways to die… Msee ana work finance UON alikuwa ananishow wako na unpaid dues za lecturers from five years ago…
Then public universities do not fund their pensions… You retire and there is no pension money at all…
Nonetheless, ndio naanza masters…
PHD nayo lazima Mungu akiniweka…
Imagini ukiambia sray, I’m alehadro, Dr. alehadro
Hapa Kanairo naona PhD wakiingiza some mad money, especially wale wajanja. Salo zao ziko huko 1.8m alafu consultancy kando ukiwaona hutajua wanaingiza mkwanja serious kama hio.
Wale wamelalia maskio ndio kufunza uni ni only hustle.
watu wa sigalagala tuketi wapi
Consultancy ndo pesa iko

@mikel angetuambia hizi consultancy gigs ni zipi?
Getting a PhD in Kenyan public universities can take even seven years. The time lost can never be recompensed but the thrill of the title and hunger for knowledge defeats this
Hehe, basi wewe haujui kaka. I’m thinking about pursuing my PhD outside of Kenya, and the University of South Africa (UNISA) is one of the options I’m considering. Based on my little experience, a PhD can be quite rewarding, especially in consultancy positions.
ukiwa na pesa na kila mtu anakuita Daktari, utafurahi.
You’ll eat big kama una contacts your earnings will definitely rise
I have collaborated with various ministries, NGOs, SMEs, and individuals. If I successfully complete my PhD, I may aim to establish an international presence. Nianze na Rwanda.
mimi na kadegree kangu naona niko tu sawa.
Watu wa PhD ni academics tu na kutoa papers za theory
Mkubwa uliwacha kutomba malaya wachafu?

Wazi. Hio njia umechagua itakusaidia sana maishani.
Hapo sawa Nyakundi yaa
Hehehe usijidanganye. A properly earned phd ( with great supervisors) from a reputable university will guarantee you millions every month. My old man, uncle and a cousin have one so i know what am talking about. I will use a phd from a very obsecure field ( according to kenyans) to illustrate this. Imagine you have a Phd in nutrition or food science from a reputable university, chances are you will consult for almost all NGOs based at ILRI, FAO, WFP food processing companies and others like, world bank and others like Bill and Melinda Gates. I have two friends who beside teaching at the university also consult with those organisations. Any new product needs the expertise of someone at a phd level to make sure it meets market expectations, nutritional expectations and other regulatory obligations. Hata beer mpya pale keroche lazima they bring in some doctorates before it finally gets into the market.
You also need a university as an anchor before spreading to the other areas.
Ingia UoN any department uone multimillionaire lecturers. Anza na medicine, political science then law. I remember there was a time we needed several consultants for some project kwa undisclosed ministry so went kwa political science department and all the guys with properly recognised phds and academic track record were engaged elsewhere. Most were either working for political parties, ministries of defence, interior or parliament and they were on over $1500 a day!!
Hata biochem yenye mimi huskia watu wakidharau…at phd level it gets you consultancies and assured earnings of over $7000 a month. Kama kuna mtu ako na Phd in plant pathology, plant genetics, plant biotechnology and any related field from a proper university na ashawai publish na hana job mlete yeye hapa kesho i hook we help them get a job before evening. Lets not even talk about fields like IT, agriculture, engineering etc…hapo kuna pesa. Just dont get your Phd from KEMU…hata KU try and avoid
Eeeh munaleta pressure sana. sasa masters tuende wapi ndio kuzuri?
