The construction of the proposed Mama Rachel Ruto Specialist Hospital – Mutuini, Nairobi County, is now 89% complete.Principal Secretary for Interior Dr. Raymond Omollo on Wednesday noted that , the three-storey, 400-bed facility will serve up to 1.5 million patients annually.
“The Government is deliberately investing in modern health infrastructure to deliver Universal Health Coverage (UHC) and improve access to quality healthcare for all Kenyans,” Dr. Omollo said.
He revealed that, ongoing works include floor screening, terrazzo finishing and tiling, expected to reach 50% completion next week.
The hospital’s first floor is designed to house theatres, maternity, newborn units and an in-pharmacy for inpatients.The second floor will accommodate Intensive Care Unit(ICU0 wards, the High Dependency Unit(HDU) and the renal unit.
“A live surgery suite, central to the facility’s operations, will anchor the hospital’s clinical excellence,” Dr. Omollo added.
He further stated that, on the ground floor, patients will access radiology services (CT scan, X-ray and ultrasound), six dispensing areas, a large laboratory capable of 400 tests per hour, a nutrition department, five consultation rooms and two minor surgery theatres.
The hospital will also feature two human milk banks to support neonatal care.
