Ochuka was president for 6 hours:D but Moi had actually known about the coup 3 months earlier through Kanyotu since he had sent spies to infiltrate the military. He had presented names to Moi for arrest since they could arrest military officials on 29th July 1982/ 1st August 1982. Why Mzee Moi did not act we will never know. The coup was supposed to happen much later when Moi was out of the country but ni kama ilikuwa rushed

There would have been a counter coup after that, and most probably Mkamba would have carried the day, due to the sheer numbers they had in the millitary and law enforcement.
