Hello Elders.Hope you all doing good.Today I post here to ask for views,opinion and advice…

This year has not been bad for me,given on matters money,at least I can say it’s the year sijafinywa sana and got some decent amnt save within 2025.

So I have got this Chile we’ve been at it for 2 yrs.I know the saying…Last two months,the Chile has sensed that I got some decent savings and since yeye mwenyewe hajakuwanga Ile financially secure/stable I don’t know where she got this idea of starting a business to at least earn something. Mimi I beat the math and I agreed to this and asked her if she has the spirit passion and willing to give it a try why not.And so she was to research and identify which one can she venture in…

So Jana, she brings the idea eti she would wish to start a Wines and Spirit shop,close to one of this learning institution za colle/uni hapa nairobi.Where she really pitch the idea of how profitable it is hadi naambiwa I should partner with her to start and run it…where she suggested the capital needed ni 200k…and as partners…I am to take a loan and finance it,and on her part,with the amount it will cover everything from rent,licences to the marchandise…

So i told her starting a bs is a good Idea but I’m not sure if her expectation of the profit will be met and also the expenses. I enjoyed how she pitched it how psyched she was and the excitement of touching big money(for her) hadi naambiwa how he bs will be making a profit of Ksh 15,000 per day what about in a month…beat the math…lowest 300k

Kumpima, I told her right now I can’t raise that money but floated the idea of how about her friends to raise 100k and me the other and we put together.. her answer was that that’s impossible given her friends don’t trust her​ This made me laugh given when I asked her about who will run the sales and she had told me that her and her friends can do that…
I was left questioning and wondering akili yake ikoje…like her friends can’t trust her with their money but she can trust her friends with the sales​

Now to avoid the dramas,I told her I will think of it…and that is why here I am today…

Elders,hii biashara ya wines and spirits ikoaje,for those who have tried it or have an experience in that field ..is it a good idea to sink that given ndio ni biashara yake ya kwanza and she’s decided to go big at once?

I’m used to starting small and then expanding,where the capital is manageable for a mkulima talk of 50-100k…but not hii yake ya 200k which I’m sure will hit hata 300k. And saa hii pia sitaki mambo ya loan vile anasuggest eti the repayment period iwe in one year…

A friend of mine was speaking like this 10 years ago about the very same biz: wines and spirits.

Kanjo, police and the girl he hired ran him out of town. The girl would sell her own stock, instead of selling his.

He closed after 2 months.

Thank you…I thought of the same after hearing and seeing on of my former colleague open the same bs…alikuwa ameshinda tu kugeuza hao service ladies,mambo ya polisi na kanjo kila mara,and then pia hao wadada kuuzia customers nyau a habit that kills the bs kichini…this was in Nanyuki..I feared but sikuwa nataka nimwambie papo hapo how bad it is…so nikamwambia afanye utafiti next year anapata jibu.

Licence inakula almost 50k per year, Rent pia depends na landlord. Enye itakula 80% ni stock. So hio 300k for a start si mbaya. So if I may advice ukitaka a business hio si mbaya bt trusting her ndio a problem. Why not start the business yoourself and let her just be a part timer. Yeye apige tu sales wewe ni kushugulika na stock na running the biz… Then utajua bidii yake
