Wrong Career Choice!

I met a buddy from high school today, he’s now a procurement officer for some county govt in Nyanza. The Mofo has made a fortune! Where did I go wrong!? I should be somewhere now fleecing the public, after all they deserve it ! If you keep electing the highest bidder into office, you deserve to be poor. This is my next move! I am not a poor man but I think I deserve more!

Was he a high performer in academics back in high school? For some reason high performers don’t make it big in their careers

ask yourself why politicians families are always in and out of court fighting for money??
Any money you earn by reaping off people illegally will never be enjoyed by your future generations

People discredit luck more than they should when it comes to success. Hard work is good, but when you are born into a good family, with required talents or many other things essential for success, that you had no hand in, then you will advance better than your peers. Shida is that when you ask such people they rarely mention such things, but will tell you how they took the road less travelled by.

Edit: discredit

Outliers by Malcom Gladwell is a book that talks about that in depth.

Definitely adding this to my reading list. I read Blink sometime ago and I really liked it lakini sikuangalia his other books. My reading these days is first come first read so I do not even do much planning lakini saa hii nataka kurudia system juu I have read some really disappointing books as a result. Thanks.

I haven’t read Blink but I’ll look for it. He also wrote David and Goliath which changed my perception a lot about what makes people who seem like they can’t win eventually win.

Hehehehehehehe. Be damned if you do. Be damned if you don’t. There’s really no big difference between someone who steals kidogo and one who does steal a lot. Only difference is that the one who steals a lot leads a better life. So if stealing affects generations, then even that kasmall thief should have his coming generations affected. Truth is almost everyone everywhere steals. We just lie to ourselves that some are dirtier.

He seems to be very good on social commentary I think I will start following him… I’ll look into that one too. Do you know other other similar books by different authors?

There is freakonomics, it tries to apply economic thinking to everyday things. There was a chapter on how upbringing and the name you give your child influences them.

Look at it this way…ukikula cdf ndio uende holiday whereas kuna mtoto anakosa kwenda shule…you think karma won’t catch up with you?
