Definition: a hooded fur pullover garment for arctic wear; a usually lined fabric outerwear pullover or jacket [I]Parka[/I] comes ultimately from Nenets, a Samoyedic language of Russia. In Nenets the word meant “skin coat,” as the people who lived in the Arctic referred to jackets made thusly from animals.
