When I was in campus, there was this guy who was hated by all the guys bcz all the ladies loved him and he wasn’t gym body, he was lanky and he wore glasses and he wasn’t extraordinarily outgoing, he looked nerdy but if you’d spend 5 minutes with him, you would come out of there, feeling so nice and he was soft spoken and unassuming. I am telling you, men know the competition, they hated him and the more they hated him the more the women loved him. So one day he kissed one of my classmates, wah she called us to her room and she broke it down, wah, now every girl wanted to kiss him. I won’t give out his secret weapon but these quiet guys are dangerous. DANGEROUS! You won’t know what hit you. English is not my first language. You will have to bear with me. In fact I think the correct phrase is take your wife from right under your nose. I know a few other languages and it is said English is the most bland language. I think German is the worst. Personally I like getting the English interpretation of the Spanish language, it’s very rich and expressive.
"…from right under your nose" is correct. You have an advantage when you can speak several languages. I don’t know either German or Spanish, just a greeting phrase or two. (But I do enjoy the music.)
Word play is always a beautiful thing in any language, if you can master it. You can do it with whichever language you know well, even a second language. If you take words as clay, there is a way you can work them into the “idea shapes” you want. The key is to be understood.
Yep. Alot gets lost in translation though. You like German and Spanish music. OK. Here’s something for you. The first is in Yiddish which is German spoken by Jews and the other is a popular Spanish song. The translated lyrics are attached .
Thanks. They’re interesting pieces. I may have heard the instrumental version of the Spanish one somewhere, no idea where, maybe from a movie. The translated meaning is vague, though it seems like a peculiar blend of witchery and romance. The Yiddish is nice too. I like the bow and the fiddle imagery.
