Fagia wote is a joke fueled by millenials living in their parents mansions with their biggest contribution in politics being creating infographics, memes and gaining with xtian della. If you even ask one of their staunchest supporters whether they are registered as voter, chances are in a group of five it will be 3:2 in favour of Noooo!!
I understand fully and resonate with the message but revolutions in Africa do not start on social media or composing ‘patriotic’ songs. It starts with young or old leaders coming out in the open and giving the revolution a face. Fagia wote is a faceless revolution with keyboard warriors seating comfortably at home with the only thing they share with the common man being the insistent fight with mosquitos when they go to bed.

The answers to Kenyas problems will never be found at the ballot. We elect people who claim they will go and change things only for them to go in and become establishment. Most of the times worse. Each successive crop of leaders is worse than the last one.
I think the solution to our problems lies in the Wananchi themselves. The day it will pain them enough, they will stop GIVING bribes, they wont tolerate a traffic policeman receiving a bribe (in the open), they wont support Mr Prezzo when 5 billion goes missing from one institution ( in one financial cycle) and he takes no action. They will escort home for good, immediately the governor of the largest City with nothing to show in improvements after 2 years in office. Why wait for 5. And his comrade at the coast.

I weep for thee Mama Land

There is always a convenient excuse on why shouldn’t do anything about our sad situation.

From “too rich to relate”, “poor people are lazy”, “the alternatives are just as bad” etc etc.

Those that protest online are “busybodies” and those and go to the streets are “paid for/attention whores”.

Everything is reduced to tribal contest.

When a Kikuyu voices concern he’s termed a traitor/confused and the Luos are merely jealous.

Then there is the “what about” arguments

  • what about mollasses, Mumias…

Meanwhile…

Mimi huu mwaka nimeamua kupeana bribe ni uongo!

There’s only one solution for Kenya and it’s in the people’s hands.

Sometimes I just pray for peace to reign forever in this country despite all the undoings, but then I remember that with the continued corruption where the perpetrators becomes some sort of demigods ,the misappropriation of public funds, the tribalism peace may also vanish.
