This is the most outrageous thoughts but critical thinking will reveal the truth. It is obvious that Ruto is focused on clinching the presidency in 2022. If Uhuru Kenyatta wins, Ruto will be the target for political bull-shit for the next five years. Everybody with political ambitions will try to undermine the jubilee government with the hope of gaining popularity in 2022.
Ruto understands that Kenyans are unlikely to vote for him in 2022 if he remains in government. First, he knows the jubilee government cannot fulfill all their promises. Corruption will continue and Kenyans will hate everything to do with Jubilee. By 2022, Ruto will be the villain as Uhuru takes a back seat towards the end of his 10 years.
Most importantly, if Uhuru gets another 5 years, all the other tribes in Kenya will not be willing to vote for a Kalenjin in 2022. It would appear as the presidency was designed for kikuyus and kales since independence. This card if played by the likes of kalonzo, Joho and Mudavadi will kill Ruto’s ambitions.
However, If Raila wins, Ruto will be the de facto opposition leader for the next five years. He knows the NASA government will fail terribly compared to the Jubilee government that is currently in power. By 2022, it will be very easy for Ruto to convince Kenyans to vote out the NASA government and allow him to continue the development they initiated five years back.
It is a far-fetched thought but Ruto’s political behaviors point to this scheme. He is sabotaging Uhuru’s campaign secretly. That is why everybody is telling Uhuru that Ruto will cost him. He is deliberately antagonizing the jubilee government.

His 2022 chances are better if he divides or buys western or coast support. By 2022 he will have enough financial muscle to eighther buy or divide the 2 regions and weaken any strong alliances. See akina Namwamba, Eugene n coast MPS.

In my opinion, NASA will win and anyone in Jubilee can kiss their political career goodbye for the foreseeable future. A gov. with no tolerance of corruption, nepotism etc will have the whole of Kenya as it’s stronghold. Uhuru, Ruto etc are finished after 8/8.
