ICT Chief Administrative Secretary Dennis Itumbi says he still believes his longtime friend Jacque Maribe is innocent of late businesswoman Monica Kimani’s murder.
His statement came shortly after Maribe and co-accused Jowie Irungu were on Wednesday put on their defence over the September 19, 2018 murder.
“I still firmly believe in the innocence of Jacque Maribe. I respect the verdict of the court, I however hold a different opinion,” Itumbi said in a statement on Facebook.
Justice Grace Nzioka on Wednesday said the prosecution adduced sufficient evidence to put the two on their defence.
“I’m satisfied that the prosecution has adduced evidence requiring to put each of the two accused persons on their defence,” Nzioka ruled.
The prosecution relied on the testimonies of 35 witnesses.
Itumbi said whereas he respects the rule of law, no witness placed Jacque at the scene of the crime, the murder weapons did not bear her prints and DNA samples from Monica’s house exonerated her.
“Her Alibi checked out. Dramatic headlines and drama targeting a clearly innocent person will not carry the day,” he said.
Maribe told the court that she will call four witnesses and take the stand as well to defend herself. Jowie said he will call one witness.
The two were charged in 2018 with Monica’s murder. Her body was found at her house in Lamuria Gardens, Kilimani.
Her hands were tied with a string, her throat slit and the body placed in a bathtub.
Maribe and Jowie have consistently denied involvement in the murder.
Itumbi said he is “very sure the truth will eventually stand out”.
“I also firmly believe that one day those who killed Monica will be found. My Friend, it shall be well. Justice will be served and your freedom from this case that has completely changed your life will dawn.”
That may be so. But once someone has been involved in murder, they get numb. Itumbi should kamua with one eye open. A woman like tu ribs will be driving a knife in your back while you are driving josto up the creek
From where I stand prima facie Maribe is innocent; she was only dishing it out to the main suspect and her passion blinded her to trust the main suspect to sharing her home with him. If her defence convinced the court that she was in all intents and purposes a wife to Jowie, and on the material day she was not near the crime scene and her home then she can’t be guilty of being an accomplice. Unless of course if she knew post facto and assured the first suspect in covering up the act, but this can be mitigated by the possibility of duress in the sense that she might have been fearful of Jowie given the fact that he is a trained security expert.
Jowie retaliates after Maribe refused to acknowledge him in an interview:
‘You cheated on me!’
Jacque Maribe is on the cover of True Love magazine this month. In her interview, she talks about career moves and motherhood.
Maribe was also asked about her relationship with ex-fiance Jowie Irungu.
She threw major shade saying,
“Who is that?” She said.
Adding,
" 'I don’t talk about that man. One is because we have a court gag and there is no way of speaking about him and not giving details of what happened. And second, I really just don’t care about him at all."

Now, Jowie and his wife Eleanor Musangi have retaliated by shooting a TikTok video. In the video, Jowie rates Eleanor and his ex.
All the good qualities are attributed to Eleanor like being a good kisser, funniest, nicest body and whom Jowie’s mum loves the most.
In the video, he is asked, “Who do you think loves you the most?”
And Jowie picks Eleanor.
However, Jowie trashed his ex by branding her a liar, someone who made him cry the most, and someone who has cheated on him.
While he is doing this, his wife, Eleanor is filming it and laughing as he fills the glass with water.
