Sorry. It was the tree of knowledge but there was also the tree of life
When God created Adam and Eve, they did not have the knowledge to discern good and evil like he had. That’s why they were naked and they felt no shame. God forbade them to eat from the tree of knowledge and warned them they would die- a spiritual death in this case. When they were tricked by Satan, their eyes were opened and they realised they were naked and felt ashamed. It is at this point that we inherited the consequence of living in a sinful world.

The tree may be literal but the sin was the problem - disobedience

Sad for the little boy. Why did it happen? Only God knows the big picture. What if that child’s father was a murderer who killed many innocent children? Now his son is dead, would you call it karma because his actions caused other people to suffer as well? Maybe things happen to people depending on the karmic energy they store, which emanates from their actions or those close to them…my 2 cents.

It is good that you are not yet numbed by other peoples suffering. We share that. Personally, I reached a point where my empathy with any form of unfairness and suffering made me almost a nervous wreck. To this day, I filter the kind of information I allow to get to me. I don’t watch the daily news. During campaigns and election I hardly signed into Ktalk for the hatred and vitriol that was flying about in here.
You will have to forget (or put aside what religion has taught you about God).God is a collective.God is the sum total of all of creation. Conversely, we are God individuated. We have individual choice. Light is the opposite of Darkness. And without Darkness we wouldn’t know Light. By the same token life never ends. So individual souls choose at a higher level (at the level of the soul) whatever it is they need to experience.
That soul that you saw made a choice for that to happen.

So you are saying if my father is an asshole it’s justified for me to die because of that association. What did I do?

These are just random thoughts in trying to find answers to very difficult situations. Who knows why things happen the way they do? I believe in karma, whatever good or evil actions one does on earth will be repaid back in kind to that person or their kids, grandkids.
