Why does Kenya Import Chinese Fish ...?

WHY DOES KENYA IMPORT CHINESE FISH … ???

Kenya shipped in 14.8 million kilogrammes of the delicacy from China last year, valued at Sh2 billion, up from Sh1.5 billion in the previous period.

This has increased China’s market share from 70 per cent in 2020 to 83 per cent, as the Asian nation squeezed out South Korea, Thailand, Tanzania and Uganda from top source markets in the fight for the Kenyan consumer.

Previously, there have been health concerns over the Chinese imports, with a joint research in 2018 between The East African newspaper and the University of Nairobi (UoN) last year showing traces of toxic metal in the fish.

Samples of fish purchased from a wholesale dealer at Gikomba market, the largest open-air fish market in Kenya, were tested by the UoN’s laboratory for residue and drug analysis.

The tests revealed that the commodity had traces of lead, mercury, copper and arsenic.
Experts have warned that continuous consumption of food products that contain mercury, lead and copper could be harmful to the body.

So the Question is …
WHY ARE HARMFUL FISH PRODUCTS ALLOWED INTO THE COUNTRY … ???

I have a theory, they wanted to finish jaruos . Jaruos eat fish each minute , @Sicarius the dog eats them raw . So if the jaruos are infected with lead , mercury and those other lethal heavy metals they will fall sick ,lose libido and eventually their population will decline. Jaruos are the only lethal force any government will reckon.
Where they went wrong is that all other tribes started eating fish like nonsense therefore the results weren’t as expected. Some kambas and kikuyus have even turned coal black like Lakers and their skin glows like those of our brothers pale juu lake bictoria.

Its definitely cheaper. But if you cant tell lake victoria fish from chinese fish you deserve all the lead, mercury and heavy metals in the world. Btw, naskia hua zinafugwa kwa sewage zingine
