Initially, bedbugs are bats parasites . When humans used to live in caves,they later moved these suckers to homes. So we became the second option.

Bed bug feeds on animals too.I have exterminated bed bugs in chicken in the past.They come out at night to suck blood and they hide in the crevices in the poultry house.
Never seen or bitten by one, so can’t relate
