While Nominated Senator Omanga Causes Chaos, Former Nominated Khadija Mohammed Hamid Is Humbled

Nominated senator Millicent Omanga on Monday, March 8, caused drama at the National Cohesion and Integration Commission (NCIC) offices after being kept waiting for too long.
In a video seen by Kenyans.co.ke, the senator can be seen storming the NCIC boardroom before unleashing a tirade at the NCIC officer.
The senator demanded to know why she had been kept waiting for more than an hour.

"We have been seated there for the last one hour, for how long? You should’ve given us timelines, if you told me to come at 12 pm, I would’ve come here at 12 pm… but you told me to come at 11 am.
“So if you knew you were taking an hour or two for every member, you should’ve calculated and given me my time… it is so unfair,” Omanga vented.
Omanga was among 10 politicians who had been summoned by NCIC for allegedly fueling political violence in the recent Matungu and Kabuchai by-elections.

Msambweni MP Feisal Bader and his counterparts from Mumias East and Kiminini; Benjamin Washiali and Chris Wamalwa respectively, have since honoured summons to appear at the NCIC offices.
Other leaders summoned included Homa Bay Woman Representative Gladys Wanga, Kakamega Senator Cleophas Malala, Mt Elgon MP Fred Kapondi and Malindi MP Aisha Jumwa.
The list was recently unveiled by NCIC chairman Samuel Kobia who disclosed that the commission was keen on ensuring that leaders involved in propagating violence face the maximum punishment.
“We will ensure the purveyors of hate and ethnic contempt are in jail, and as they wait to go to jail, we will put them out of the leadership of this country and ensure they never run again in this country,” Kobia stated.
The recently concluded Kabuchai and Matungu by-elections were marred by chaos and bribery claims. This saw various legislators arrested as police tried to restore order during the mini-poll elections.

Meanwhile:

Former Lamu Nominated Member of County Assembly (MCA), Khadija Mohammed Hamid, is now vending food on the streets, having served as an MCA from 2013 to 2017.

The 36-year-old, mother of four, decided to help the community after a five-year term serving in the county, and later switched to start a food vending business to provide for her family.
“After leaving the position, I started hawking food instead of seeking employment. It is better than being on contract or employed,” Hamid explained.

She however stated that she still has a footing in politics.
“Don’t be surprised when you see me back in parliament. I am still in politics,” she added.
Khadija revealed the stigma that followed after she lost her position and started selling food.

“At first, people in the society thought I was frustrated from the transition of earning a huge sum of money to street vending.
They look down on me but have no idea that I am making money. Every job is honorable regardless of its nature,” she added.
Hamid said the only thing that has changed is that she now gets money on a daily basis compared to a salary at the end of the month.
She added that employment is unreliable as ‘one day you are working and the next you are fired over trivial issues.’
“You don’t have to work in an office, sometimes, in employment, you lose your job in an instant and are left stranded. People undermine the type of work am doing but it pays,” she remarked.

NCIC is like EACC created and maintained specifically to pretend to be dealing with its mandate.

I thought Jubilee expelled her and stripped her of “senatorship”?

The court postponed their case on appeal. They are living on borrowed time.

Obviously there’s nothing wrong with kuuza viazi karai but I hope some in power could take lessons and use their time at the top to make lasting changes and opportunities for all because dynasties, statistically speaking, are an anomaly
