So im finally ditching dstv. Im planning on surviving on zuku and netflix and probably hulu.
Question is, what to do with my dstv equipment? The decoders in particular. I haven’t checked to see if multichoice buy back decoders to refurbish them and sell them. But in case they dont, anyone with any ideas of anything bettef i can do with my Explora?
Worst case scenario I know i can tear it open and remove the 1Tb hdd

I wasnt thinking of selling anything yet. I was hoping that the Explora could be accessed somehow and tweaked to receive other content, whether off the net or from some other satellite
They recall old decoders and issue newer upgraded versions. So it isn’t likely they would be interested to buy back your old one. The best you can do is gift it to someone.

i know the smart card is linked to the decoders so they are practically useless without each other.

Yeah, it isn’t like it’s a credit card that you run the risk that they will overdraw from your account. This is a prepaid subscription. If they don’t pay the service gets cut off with no loss or claim against you.
