What Magic Or Method Did Kibaki Use To Revive Kenya After Moi's Exit?

Do you know by December 2002 Kenya was a basket case? yet when Kibaki took the reigns he delivered on his Free education promise. Sceptics will say he inherited a very small debt but they will not tell you the measures that he put in place to raise revenues. He is the one who came up with the KRA slogan of Kulipa Ushuru ni Kujitegemea. The lad was an Economics genius.

Why can’t the current God chosen thief emulate this son of the Mountain?

There was no magic. He was simply doing what he was taught at school, and what he’d been doing for his whole life. These other ones were simply bluffing their way into a job they couldn’t do.

Kibaki reduced Kenya’s debt burden by significantly lowering borrowing, he ensured tax revenue was used within the country. Upon a change in leadership, the administration took up borrowing through syndicated loans. A large % of these borrowed funds were stolen or misused.
A substantial portion of the collected tax revenue is now allocated to servicing debts, leaving nothing to stimulate the economy.
The country generates enough revenue to provide free education up to the university level, offer free healthcare, employ all graduate teachers and doctors, and pay them a decent income.

In 2024, the country had to pay $2 billion in Eurobond debt—an obligation that Kibaki skilfully avoided. That money could have been invested back into the economy.

Currently, farmers in the Rift Valley are being displaced as some people attempt to consolidate farms—often targeting individual farmers who are too poor to fight back. With no remaining Agricultural Development Corporation (ADC) farms to acquire illegally, this could lead to a serious food shortage or a significant increase in food prices.

Budget was less than 1 trillion during moi’s era. There were no debts. Kibaki started borrowing and increased budget to over 1T. It was easy during that time.

Nakumbuka around 2003 feeling the effects of an economy growing in real time. That was a goid time. Then internet ikakuja, mpesa, mobile phones, banks and for the first time we started seeing many restaurants picking up sio zile kenchic za Moi kila pahali.Kenyans were ranked one of the happiest people in the world. For the first time we financed out budget by over 90%.Kibaki only messed up in 2007/2008.
