i dont see why we should be sucked into a war because Ethiopia struck down a plane belonging to some walalo alshabab lovers. Ethiopia has the best intelligence in somalia so they know more about Alshabab lovers.

Really sad considering our defense budget can buy best toys. Btw seems our neighbours no longer believe we have an army, its time to spend on quality arms and officers. Shida economy iko south, nothing is moving.

Kenyans, most no longer believe in their military, a characteristic nurtured by Kibaki during migingo followed back to back with UK. Its not a must to fight our neighbours but deterrence quality must be maintained. Btw most countries you mentioned despise us including Tz. It will take several years to get a CiC whom even neighbors fear going into a d*ck measuring contest. Our neighbours treat this republic as the small boy nowadays. In recent years, Tz has led the diplomatic discussion points to their own terms. They take offense and retaliate with no second thoughts, we are dispensable to them. They seem to know our soft belly and till now we don’t have proper replies. Not only to Tz but Ethiopia and Ug. Somalia is joining the wagon too with utter arrogance.

Only solution, build our local industries/economy, strengthen our own militaries and be self reliant. Calling on neighbors around in times of uncertainy shows we are weak and need allies to. Not nice…

Our biggest problem as Kenyans is the tenderpreneurs. When we suck up to our neighbors, it extends the time for them to continue stealing and enjoy some level of comfort (the usual things like going for lunch in Naivaisha, owning an apartment in Kilimani to entertain women, a road trip here and there). Their ill-gotten wealth would amount to nothing in a situation of conflict.

i think it will be too early to engage Ethiopia directly now,let us ensure unity and stability of jubaland first,settle the maritime issue,win the UN security council sit while minimizing our loses.Kenya should continue registering this provocations with relevant world bodies as they have voiced their stand against this aggression.

Mean while,some time back we signed a defense pact with Egypt,it is high time we invite the Egyptians just for 3 days joint exchange program. Day 1 their new Apaches be here,then visit KDF sectors in Jubaland,Day two land forces,and on the evening of this day,the submarine they bought from Germany recently dock at Kismayu port…their chief of defense then give a speech on how Egypt as an African power house supports peaceful AU mission in Somalia,their Muslim brothers.

Tutakua tumenyamazisha watu without downing any plane as they desperately need our help on Nile water issues,Egypt is ready to fight them.

I also think we should invite the Tanzanian,Mozambique,South Africa navies for joint training disguised as safe guarding the Eastern Coast of Africa,also exchanging notes on terrorism as alshabaab and Isis are setting camp in Mozambique.That will remind somalia it is not going to be allowed to create a domino effect downwards by adjusting the kenyan boundary through ICJ.

Not that im a pro…but well played on tagging the Egyptians. Couple this with destroying Ethiopia from within. The faultlines in the army run deep.

Kenya should go back to the drawing board on matters regarding international relations. We need to redefine what our national strategic interests are in our relationships with TZ, UG, Ethiopia and Somalia. Think in terms of trade and national security. From the foregoing, should the interests of these neighbours converge (Like Ethiopia and Somalia have done), the roof will collapse on Kenya.

To the issue at hand:

Ethiopia never wanted Kenya to enter Somalia, they want their neighbours to continue being their slaves.

Kenya has been showing ET the middle finger since 2011 and the mutual defense pact basically died the day Kenya announced its Linda Nchi campaign

2 weeks? back, Ethiopia shot down a Kenyan plane and Kenya responded by bombing unofficial Ethiopian positions in northern Jubbaland

Now we wait to see how GK will respond but the government really needs to reassert itself in the region

I read somewhere the problem is Lapsset.That thing motivates Kenya to ensure Jubaland is stable,on the other side it motivates Somalia to sabotage Kenya because she too got strategic ports,but ports to where?So she offers Ethiopia a deal of having a port in Somalia and Ethiopia wanting so bad access to the see is busy shooting at any moving object, Ethiopia wants to build a navy.

It is said if Lapsset success and eventually gets to the west coast of Africa,it will be as important as the Suez canal,add to that the Americans are uneasy with so many Chinese military assets around the canal.

But those Mps seemed friends of Farmajo the president.And Farmajo and Ethiopians are against Kenya.

Maybe Kenya has embedded spies within NGOs working in Somalia and the strategy is working,so the Ethiopians are afraid of any NGO thing associated with kenya
