When kenyans say they want the government to create jobs, they literally mean they want government positions to be opened up for them. Asin they want the government to open up an industry, or company, operate it, and pay workers directly from the national treasury.
That is what 99% of Genz understand by jobs. Anything else they consider TEMPORARY until the day the get a REAL JOB, which to them is being paid using taxpayer money.
When they see ruto open up a private business, and says he has created jobs, they believe Ruto had nothing to do with that and those are not part of the jobs they were promised.
i’ve realized we have a lower iq than previously thought
Gen-Z are right on some things and completely wrong on others. They’re right about corruption and governance. They’re wrong on matters economy. In a similar fashion, they should be asking for cheaper licenses, subsidies for anyone trying to produce/manufacture goods, limitations on businesses that foreigners can partake in, mandatory local make-up of leadership positions in any foreign-operated company, more taxes on foreign-owned companies, illegalize foreigners from owning local real estate and land without partnering with a local, permission for direct individual exports, lower bank rates on loans (capped rates at 5% max) etc etc etc.
They’re instead advocating for the wrong things. We’re fucking cooked as a country. Happy to be leaving this shithole.
We are at still at a stage where it’s the expectation of the executive arm of the government to resolve everything. But afford the institutions tasked to resolve such issues with very little accountability. Corruption: So how come Genz didn’t storm EACC offices to demand why they are doing so little. Health: Mbona a hospitals are under supplied. Why weren’t county offices stormed. Judicial reforms ziko wapi? Etc etc.
Isn’t this what any sane trade CS or PS should be championing? I mean hizi ni vitu tulifunzwa sijui huko class six kwa business studies. So you are saying a whole trade and enterprise ministry funded to the tune of billions of taxpayers money still require Genz to remind them of such basic stuff. Is your head hit by donkey?
The government should remove all taxes on starting a new business and make importation of machinery and vehicles to be easier. They should also give incentives to farmers and local manufacturers.
