Even in a real life village, not everyone can be given the title of ‘Elder.’ There’s got to be some exclusivity in such a rank/ position.
Maybe we can borrow from the Big 4 Audit Firms, where the typical hierarchy/progression is: Intern → Associate → Senior → Manager → Senior Manager → Director → Partner → CEO
Most people here are stuck at that ‘Manager’ stage and have hit a kijiji ‘ceiling.’
My proposal is, an introduction of the levels ‘Senior Elder,’ & ‘Village Director’ who will have a few, not many admin/moderator privileges e.g. deleting annoying or offending posts/ images, posting images or embedding videos correctly for new villagers, then after that we will have the level ‘Village Partner’ (where the current mods are, with full privileges eg. blocking a member & may include an ACTUAL partnership with actual sharing of profits/ losses… very good for productivity & innovation) and then finally ‘Village Head’ like @admin
I think admean introduced that ranking format in a bid to encourage talkers to post more stuff when the site was new. He didn’t plan ahead coz he didn’t think the site will ever get into this stage (Watu walikuwa wamekatalia klist). I think the titles are useless though.
Village elder should have been a combination of contribution and length of time as a member here eg. a member of 3-5 yrs who contributes regularly. With the current situation someone can be a village elder in a week
The essence of the ‘village’ is exactly that. The village, ushago, we have old people who are elders and guide the villagers and newborns as they grow up.
Eventually age takes over and they DIE. The young ones take over (read villagers, senior villagers, new villagers)
So in virtual reality here, the village elder is the end of the tether. You fade away but depends if you leave a legacy or become another useless partaker (mlevi wa kijiji)
I don’t agree with you hapo kwa deleting other member’s threads or comments even if it’s on your own thread. It reduces diversity of ideas. The main reason I came to this village is for the craziness and wildness, if I wanted tame and level headed interactions I’d just talk to my friends and worksmates.
What happens in other forums is that members choose their own titles besides the hierachy levels,e.g village mongoose,official broker,private developer etc.that way members don’t have to fill the server with retarded shit just to get promoted…if @admin can give us that privilege the better
