Is Jesus coming with bags of food? This narrative has been abused for so long we must put it aside. Yes, he might be coming, no problem–but in what form? Repenting in the practical sense means stop doing stupid things that destroy the only home we have: grow trees, dam rivers, dig wells, grow food, shun laziness and thievery, be honest in your work, don’t poison yourselves with drugs, alcohol, littering, pesticides, GMOs, and useless medications, and rabidly commercializing health, education and food production to make these inaccessible.
Repenting means taking care of lives and not starting wars and destroying nations with bombs and radioactive materials.
The coming of Jesus isn’t what people are taught to think it is. It is setting what is wrong right.
The world is ending—then??? Is that even a good thing? Repent, really.
Only those who are saved shall make their way to the next world
I don’t disagree, only that religion makes the practical things of life seem vague and magical, as though someone else is supposed to drop from outer space and fix our existential problems, most of which stem from spiritual bankruptcy and sheer meanness. We need to be honest with ourselves about the proper use of religion, so we can stop being fooled, and fooling ourselves in turn.
