Use the milimani access road nice scenery make sure you get some good camera and a huge group for security plus you can park in the carwash just behind church iko kwa junction from kmtc.
I thought the Maina side allows you to have a longer walk up to the top of the crater since the Milimani estate is quite close to the crater
