Water shortage or Nairobians getting Fleeced?

The water rationing has persisted in Nairobi for some time and in the area that i live people have had to pay Kshs. 1500 for water almost every week to water bowser people to fill in their tanks.Spoke to one of them and they said that the rationing is about to get worse and the taps/maji ya kanjo will not be there completely, let alone twicw a week which Nairobi water promised.The shortage will persist for one month, meaning taps will be completely dry and people will have to spend to fill tanks,the guys said that the reason is that rain has rained elsewhere apart from Nairobi,is this thing genuine or are people profiting from the sale of water given that it is elections time,how did it get to people not getting water for a whole month?Anyway i don’t expect anything good to come from this man called Kidero so i highly suspect that him and his city hall goons are working together with Nairobi water officials to profit, that’s my theory

:D:D:D hapa ni masweeps tu

you must be having ADD,are illiterate or cannot plain read english sentences,the guys who were pumping water told me that,i did not say that,learn to read,digest,comprehend then comment,that’s how a working brain functions,

water is supplied by Nairobi Water and Sewerage Company (NAWASCO), which is a parastatal, not under the control of Kidero

Nairobi Water and Sewerage Company is a limited Liability company which is 100% owned by the City County of Nairobi.All Water and Sewerage Companies are owned that way. Before that,they were mostly departments in their respective councils.
Special exceptionS were Mombasa,Nakuru, Gilgil,Kisii, Malindi, Kwale, Voi, Kerugoya, Embu and Karatina whose Water and Sewerage Companies were until 2005, managed by the National Water and Pipeline Services Company, which was a Government Parastatal.
So,No,Nairobi Water is controlled by Kidero and has always been controlled by Kidero.

wacha niulize Gavana Sonko hii Maneno.

Big lie my friend. NCWSC is a completely independent entity from Kanjo. They were one and the same sometime back, but as of now they are separate entities. It is now under the Athi Water Services Board.

ATHI WATER SERVICES BOARD
Geographical Coverage[/SIZE]
Athi Water covers an area of 3,810 square kilometers with a population of 5.5 million people and a population density of 8,472.48 persons per square kilometer. Athi Water ensures the provision of quality and affordable water and sewerage services in its area of jurisdiction through its twelve (12) appointed Water Services Providers (WSPs) namely :
Nairobi Water and Sewerage Company;

  1. Thika Water and Sanitation Company;
  2. Limuru Water and Sewerage Company;
  3. Ruiru-Juja Water and Sanitation Company;
  4. Kikuyu Water Company;
  5. Karuri Water and Sanitation Company ;
  6. Gatundu Water and Sewerage Company ;
  7. Githunguri Water and Sewerage Company;
  8. Gatanga Community Water Scheme ;
  9. Kiambu Water and Sanitation Company;
  10. Karimenu Community Water and Sanitation Company
  11. Runda Water Company.

You need to know the functions of a Water Board and the functions of a Water and Sewerage Company as per the Water Act of 2002 As well as the Water Act of 2016.
Water Boards develop water resources and then sell the water to the Water companies that are under their geographical jurisdiction.
THEY DO NOT OWN THE WATER COMPANIES UNDER THEIR JURISDICTION.
As the example given above, Nairobi Water and Sewerage Company is a limited Liability company owned by the Nairobi City County.
It however gets its water from Ndakaini Dam, Ruiru Dam and Sasumua Dam, which are owned by the Athi Water Services Board, which is a board under the Ministry of Water.
Not the same thing!!! NWSC actually BUYS the water from AWSB
The same thing applies to all Water and Sewerage Companies since 2005, they are owned by their respective county governments.They however buy their water from the Water Services Boards.
That is why in March, the Coast Water Services Board stopped supplying water to Mombasa ,Malindi ,Kwale and Kilifi Water and Sewerage Companies as they owed over sh 1 billion to CWSB, which is a Government Parastatal while the rest are companies owned by their county Governments.
