water scarcity

water scarcity in mavoko and syokimau imekuwa mbaya zaidi mtungi ya 20lts salty water going for 50 bob.akina mutheu sasa kuoga ni passport

Sad reality, a few months ago the place was flooded. Rain water harvesting should be mandatory.

Tulisema apana nunua shamba transitional months, Take time to know the place na mashida za hapo

No. A govt. that is “well run” and that cares about it’s citizens, providing water should be mandatory!

Unlike yours of course.

During the Nyayo era, water was a myth in most places. Kibaki came in and by 2004 water became accessible to many Nairobi homes.

Kwani ni uchawi gani alitumia?

I remember even in places like Mathare there were borehole watering points. There was the project to provide water even in slums.

Public toilets in Nairobi were privatized and became clean. The fellow even brought back public drinking water spouts in the city. Ile sink ya kanjo.

Uhuru comes in… RATIONING. Whether it rains or not.

Uhuru ni wimbo tu. Biggest dam, Thakwe dam, sijui dam gani ingine and they never materialize. Where is Thakwe dam?

Uhuru promised so many dams… ziko wapi? Were they ever built?

Where is the Turkana aquifer water???

Kujia maji…

You have polluted almost all the rivers in Kenya. You can’t really complain about water scarcity.

We are just lazy…esp those with own houses …I have more than 5 relatives in kitengela who are wise enough to harvest rain water. It will be atleast 3 more months before they complain about water by which time we will have rain
Also in nakuru kiamunyi we have never had municipal water…always relied on rain water and has never let us down…i encourage financially able kenyans to make this small investment.

Tafuta exhauster ya maji umalize umaskini.

Infact most of the billionaires living pale Syokimau can afford tanks but their priorities are else where. Though some while building houses they opted for a fancy roof that can’t harvest potable water. But angalau hata wa harvest hata kama ni ya laundry and flushing toilets.

wakitaka naweza land huko na water drilling machine

What about those renting? Should they be subjected to collecting water?

Kenya is very very lucky. And blessed with numerous resources. You look at one of the greater economic hubs of the U.S. : California and Nevada e.g. L.A., Las Vegas, San Diego, Phoenix… these are largely deserts which should not support economic activity.

How did this mzungu turn this places green?

Well, for starters he built a fucking super duper dam. The Hoover dam. Not the biggest dam on earth today, but it’s impact is yuuuge.

There’s an old documentary on Nat geo which shows the insane amounts of water used in Las Vegas a metropolis of over 2 million people. And Las Vegas is a desert.

All the drinking water and much of the electricity in Las Vegas comes from Hoover dam. Lake Mead reservoir. The same for large parts for L.A. ,San Diego, Phoenix etc. Today of course they use a lot of aquifer water as well.

A dam built in the 1930s and completed by a foward thinking President, FDR. His great great grandchildren are still enjoying the fruits.

Kwani hapa Kenya that can’t be replicated. PROBLEM SOLVED for once and for all… shida iishe kabisa. All of Ukambani, Coastal areas, Isiolo,Marsabit, hio shida isahaulike kabisa. Ama hata Aswan High dam Kenya version, problem solver.

Concrete ikijazwa pale Hoover:

Yes, si mimi huina wamama waploti wakichota maji ya mvua? hio si water harvesting.
Ata O. Rongai na Ngong hakuna waba

My question is, how much water can you collect if you are renting a house ?

Can a poor farmer in Ukambani build a 100k tank?

Hizi ni gava za mchezo. Hata Syokimau you can’t build a 100k rain water tank in your quarter acre to serve you for several months.

How comes in Las Vegas hawaambiwi wajenge tank? Same for L.A.

Ni huku tu mnaambiwa ati nyinyi ndio hamjengi tank. You need lots of water to serve all these people. A real problem solver.

Depends na ur storage, there those small rectangular tanks which are quite portable numesahau capacity. If you have a house ni wewe ujipange, i have a friend with three above the surface tanks and a submerged tank ile amedig

Heri hio 4k tank than none at all. It shows the individual made effort. Hizi zingine ni poa but how many can afford?

Wrong approach jamba ya ruriri. Get a plot hizo side chap chap and drill a borehole and start selling water don’t wait to be woken up from your deep slumber.:D:D:D

Currently kuna ban on digging boreholes
