After the Rapture, when Jesus opens the 4th seal, the most chilling and devastating of the Four Horsemen will be released, and a fourth of the earth will be killed!

The Fourth Seal: The Pale Horse!
“So I looked, and behold, a pale horse. And the name of him who sat on it was Death, and Hades followed with him. And power was given to them over a fourth of the earth, to kill with sword, with hunger, with death, and by the beasts of the earth.” Rev 6:8.
The term “pale” comes from the Greek word “chloros,” which is associated with a greenish-gray color— the color of a decaying corpse, symbolizing death and illness. This is not just the color of physical death, but it’s an image of the suffering and decay across the earth.
The rider is not given a metaphorical name or symbol, but a direct one—Death.
This rider personifies death itself, marking a clear judgment where massive numbers of people will lose their lives. Unlike the earlier horsemen, who symbolize conquest (first), war (second), and famine (third), this rider will bring the final outcome of all those calamities: death on an unparalleled scale.
Hades follows closely behind the rider. The fact that Hades is right behind Death suggests that this judgment will involve both physical and spiritual consequences. It’s not just about people dying, but also about souls being swept into Hades, highlighting the finality of this judgment.
The scale of this seal’s devastation will be staggering. The rider will be granted authority to kill one-fourth of the earth’s population. If applied to today’s population, this would mean the deaths of over 2 billion people—an unimaginable amount of loss in a very short period of time.
Here’s how people will die:
1. Sword (War): Continuing the theme from the second seal, the sword symbolizes violence and war. Conflicts will erupt, likely worsening as the world sinks deeper into chaos.
2. Hunger (Famine): Famine, introduced by the third seal, intensifies under the pale horse’s ride. The lack of food and resources will kill countless people, as the world’s systems continue to break down.
3 Death (Plague/Pestilence): In some translations, “death” here is often understood as pestilence—widespread diseases and epidemics. Illnesses that will sweep the world claiming millions of lives.
4. Beasts of the Earth: In addition to war, famine, and plague, wild beasts will contribute to these deaths. This could mean that as society collapses, animals that usually avoid humans may become more aggressive due to hunger or habitat loss. Alternatively, it could symbolize something even more terrifying—demonic forces or oppressive government power over lives.
Anyone who thinks that the first half of the Tribulation will be a “normal” period is seriously deceived and mistaken. The loss of life will be unprecedented, affecting every corner of the globe.
While wars, famines, and diseases are things humanity has always faced, never before will they occur on such a global scale with such deadly intensity.
The fourth and last horse of the the seven seals will bring an era of unparalleled suffering as God’s judgment continues to unfold during the Tribulation.
Church: Let’s thank the Lord that we can rest assured we won’t experience any of this unimaginable suffering, because we are not appointed to wrath! We will be raptured before the Tribulation begins.
